Yes, there is an LCD method. The LCD of 3 and 4 will be 12 and then you will have to multiply your first fraction by 3 and second fraction by 4 to make the denominator 12. I also did the same thing but I explained it in a simple way as students sometimes get confused with LCD. This method saves the time as you don't have to find the LCD. I hope that helps.
