Thank you! I seen another video that was VERY detailed to where the guy also tells you to turn off your house circuit breaker. If anyone has seen his videos, while i do appreciate him being extra safe, DO NOT SHUT YOUR HOME BREAKER OFF IF YOU HAVE SSM BOXES. They will BREAK because it WILL cause a surge of power. The other guy says to turn the house breaker off to avoid surges but no this is not the case. Think about it, these generators automatically come on/off when utility power goes off/on. Do we touch our house main breaker? No. I listened to that other guy and broke my SSM boxes. This is the best video to follow. To the point and no unnecessary steps. He also shares oil type, etc (always confirm type and max amount in your manual). I would maybe add how to remove the front panel (just pull UP), but other than that, it is great! Thank you!

*GENERAC SSM boxes. If you don't know what that is, you don't have any. You might have one just for your range, for example. It would be located by your circuit breaker in your home. Just don't shut your home main breaker off, period, that fixes that!

Great video! No superfluous information. Great emphasis on the most important things, and in under 15 minutes! (Some people would talk that long)

I think I added a little too much oil to my 22kw gen after the last storm. I even drained a little bit out before I put it back in service. However, when I checked yesterday, which was the first time I had looked at the generator again, and since it had run it's weekly 5 minute test run, I found that maybe I had not drained quite enough and that the crankcase was over-full. I found an oily mess inside the engine compartment, the oil fill cap was off and laying down in the bottom of the floor, and there was about a centimeter depth of oil in the air cleaner housing. The air filter was partially stained and that I will replace. The oil level, upon checking now is okay. The fill cap is back on hand tight and snug. I thoroughly cleaned out all of the oil from the air cleaner housing. I ran the generator for a few minutes and all seems well. Just waiting for my new air filter to arrive now.

Guys, Please don’t say “Why aren’t you taking care of the generator?” The generator was filmed during an 8 day power outage, like he said in the description. It’s a mess because there are leaves, and branches everywhere. He is going to clean it after the outage, which is over.

Thank you, and in the process we were taking care of 1800 other generators in Connecticut!
