You can but I think it would be harder to get them on the chain.

Ironically, I find wire wrapped loops easier to make than simple loops, I have to practice like mad to get simple loops right so inevitably I use wire wrapped loops more often than simple loops. Also, I find wire wrapped loops more secure and attractive, but that’s just my personal choice. Ultimately the type of loop really depends on the gauge of the pin, the size of the bead and the diameter of it’s hole.
