How to add SUNBEAMS to your Photo using Adobe Photoshop

This method of adding sunbeams or light rays to a photo doesn't work on every picture, but if the weather conditions are fitting this is a very convincing way of adding them.
First, we want to very roughly shape the sunbeam using the lasso tool. Once we made the selection, we are going to fill it with a bright, slightly warm color tones (just think of a golden hour sun light color).
Since sunbeams usually have very soft edges we need to blur the filled selection using gaussian or box blur with a decent amount of blur. Now it starts to look a little more realistic!
To make it look natural we need to apply some masking. So first, apply a layer mask on the sunbeam layer. Then, with the gradien tool (colors set to black and white) we drag a gradient from bottom to the top of the light beam making it less visible near the ground. We can do further masking if needed using the brush tool to get more precise results!

Wouldn't it be faster and easier with a radial filter in lightroom? (bump blacks up and adding warmth)

It would be possible to create something similiar but it would be way more time consuming to get it right. Also Im not sure if it would look that good
