Yes , in India calling elders by their names is considered disrespectful . That explains ' auntie ' , ' uncle ' etc.

Auntie is an Indian thing as far as I know. The Indian youths call grown-up women by "auntie" instead of "ma'am" or "Ms" in a friendly way.
