With all those "whacking tools" it appears you are spending more time whacking than working 🤣🤣🤣 Man I am just joking! Great instructional video for a novice! I just bought a box today at a estate sale and had no idea what it would do or how to use it! Now I do!!!!!! Time to go out in the yard and start "Whacking" while the neighbours watch 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I use the hydraulic top link (a video on my channel) and it's great. There are different lengths for work good and better on your tractor. Thanks for the video!

A hydraulic top link is definitely in our future
@grattonland2 жыл бұрын
For the tilt angle from side to side, I find a level is not really good unless the tractor is parked on a level surface. I find that measuring the fixed link on the left side, and make the right adjustable link the same length is more reliable. This way, it doesn't matter if the tractor is level or not, but you need a small yellow measuring tape line instead of a big yellow level 🙂

Thankfully, EVERY inch of our property is PERFECTLY flat thanks to the box blade!

@@HomesteadBandwagon LOL, I wish I could say the same. I did spread 10 tandem loads of gravel last year to fill in some of the low spots. Once the snow can melt, I'll have the pick up rocks that the frost will have pushed up. I'll try to make a few piles using the box blade, but not too aggressively, I don't want to remove too much dirt, just drag the surface rocks away. Then probably have a dozen loads or so of topsoil to spread, but that will be slopping towards the back of the property, so that water goes away from the house.

This was helpful.I have on order a box scraper that is just one inch wider than my tires.I was of the opinion that I could get in tight places maintaining my logging road on the property without snagging something and doing some damage.If I want adjust the box out to one side to cut a ditch or crown off an existing ditch will I be able to do that ok? Looks like the hitch and scraper might be in a bind like you mentioned.Will that work ok or not? Or should I upgrade to an 8 foot box from a 7 and have about 6 inches hanging on both sides all the time.Your opinion would be appreciated.Thanks.
@HomesteadBandwagon Жыл бұрын
You may be able to sway it over a few inches, but once it's tilted, you'll lose those inches pretty fast. Maybe buy an old school 7 or 8 foot back blade with offset and tilt to complment the box blade? If that's not in the budget, ya may as well go a little bigger. A few extra inches will make a lot of difference if you're trying to make ditches!

You measure your side to side off the tractor a level only works if the tractor is level

TRUE, but after you get your tractor level, you have to level the continent you're on. What a pain!

Thank you! I've been looking for a video like this for over a year. The last adjustment where you're able to sway the box. What does effect does that have on the land? What would be the best adjustment to make for pulling rock that gathered on one side of the road, to spread evenly?
@HomesteadBandwagon3 жыл бұрын
I'll generally sway the box if I'm trying to keep my tires away from a soft edge or something like that. In my experience, to gather material, just lay the box down flat and pull the material with you to a spot where you can pile it up and manually re-distribute it either with the loader or by coming back the opposite way with the box and feathering it out as you go
