Hiya John. Yeah the design of these is quite ingenious although getting the power module back in on this one was much harder than it looked on the video. Not sure why as they normally clip back in ok. Your Typhon was a mega wasn't it so has it got the same clutch assembly as the 3s range. I did look into getting one of those 2wd ones with a view to upgrading it but when I actually looked into it there are a lot more differences including a lighter weight clutch. It would take a 2s system ok I'd have thought. Anyway, cheers for your great support as ever mate. Very best wishes to you and yours 😁👍

You don't have to take the whole power module apart and take the whole slipper clutch out to adjust the slipper clutch. You can take the power module out and just hold the spur gear with your hand to keep it from spinning as you tighten..stock setting is to tighten all the way then loosen 1.5 turns...I find 3/4 to 1 turn is good for me . Any less than that and you risk causing damage to your stock composite diffs if youre an aggressive driver . I ended up stripping a rear diff one time and learned my lesson on setting the slipper properly .
@PeteWylieRC6 ай бұрын
Oh yeah you can adjust the clutch with the power module still in the truck. You just need to take out the centre drive shaft. Yes 1 turn or so is about right to hopefully avoid damage. Many thanks indeed for your great feedback 😁👍👍

So if you had a plastic spur gear that must be the Mega version rather than the 3s right? I haven't worked on a Mega but have you tried taking the whole clutch out and testing it manually? I show how to do this with the 3s trucks here kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHq9m3-wq5idkJY

Have you already tried tightening the slipper? Maybe tighten it all the way just as an experiment and if it solves it then loosen it till it only does it sometimes. Other than that you need to take it to bits and see if you can work out what's wrong. My other video on this subject goes into taking it apart. Hope you get it sorted 👍

What I would do is to take the power module out and see how it runs when not attached to the rest of the drivetrain. Also while it is out, check that all the wheels spin freely. The last time I had something like that it was a seized bearing. Good luck.

Hi there, sorry for late reply. I think that you answered this while watching the other video. The little plastic wing nut is supposed to stop the main screw from shaking loose. It wasn't in the version 2 3s cars so it won't fit in there if that's what you have :-)

Hi Pete, great video to help me start out in this hobby. Halfway through my first bash - no jumps but couple of collisions with tree in park, I noticed the noise in the video but only in reverse. Should I tighten it a tad more? or leave as is? I don't want to tighten it too much to get rid of the noise but silently its destroying my drive train etc... please advise. Thanks
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hi there. I think if it's doing it all the time in reverse then it wouldn't hurt to do it up a little so it's just occasional. If it isn't annoying you then you could leave it as these clutch plates don't seem to wear out very easily. Obviously tighten it if it starts making the noise when accelerating forwards. Many thanks for watching the video 😁

Good stuff, sir! Have you had any issues with the clutch loosening on its own over time? It seems Arrma has used a beefier plastic nut on the back of the slipper with these v2 4S trucks. Do you use any loctite? By the way, factory setting is 1/2 turn out on the 4S, 1 1/2 out for 3S.
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Ah that's good info about the factory setting on the 4s. It did seem to be loosened more turns when I first got it. I haven't had to use lock tight except on the v2 Granite which didn't have the plastic sleeve bit. The v3 3s line and the v2 4s line seem fine so far. Many thanks indeed for your great feedback 😁👍

New to the hobby, Havent been able to get more than 1 battery run out of my Kraton 4s v2 without running into issue. Is it normal for the slipper clutch screw to loosen?
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hi there. No it shouldn't loosen that quickly and once set it should go for weeks. There is a plastic bit at the back of the clutch assembly that should stop the screw shaking loose. If you look at the other video I did about the clutch I think I show the bits all taken apart. Thanks for watching 😁👍
