We usually got rescue dogs, and we would just look until we found one that we clicked with. You just knew this was the one. The one I have now is not what I would have chosen, but my husband fell in love with her. A little mixed terrier with a broken ear that hung down, an underbite, and a cherry eye. She was mostly white with a little tan mixed in. I normally like the black or at least darker colors, but do like terriers. But Don wanted her, as standoffish as she was, as she had come from an abusive situation. The people at the Humane society shelter thought she was a good fit for us, because she liked us, and they said the reason that such a small dog had not been taken yet was that she didn't basically like people. So we adopted her. We had her together for 7 years, but then my husband passed away. So now it's just me and her. And I wouldn't trade her for anything else. I love her, and remember the day that Don so proudly picked her out and said this is the one he wanted. She quickly became part of the family, and I can't imagine not having her. Rescued dogs make great pets, and it seems they know that you have given them another chance. They just want to be loved.

Thank you so much for this video, I have never owned a dog before, I've always been afraid off them, but by children keep asking for one, so I think I might get one, got to visit some shelters now.....

So glad that this video was helpful for you! My father used to be deathly afraid of dogs until we adopted our first puppy, Blue. That was 14 years ago and he loves dogs now. It's all about finding the right fit for you. Best of luck!
