This is a great video. I am an old school iron sights shooter...focus on the front site is the Mantra I am used to. I just started learning how to use a red dot...and focusing on the target is a new task for me. I guess practice practice practice.

Right on 👍🏻 The idea is to focus on a small spot on the target nd to react when you see the color of your dot in that sport. The more you pracice the more confident with that technique you will become 👍🏻

Great video! Easy to digest, the pacing and the visualizations work well. I'm glad I got the course. I still have to wait till I can make full use of it over here. I can hit the range once a week but I'm fixed at 25m. I'm looking into options to dry fire at home. I'm unsure if I'll engrain mistakes by using a replica/airsoft model. I wonder if I should focus on eye training for now or is there something that would be beneficial early on, easy to check oneself doing it correctly that can be isolated early on?

Focus on a good trigger pull and quick eyes. If you have CoolFire trainer it's a good mix of trigger control and recoil management. Quick target-to-target transitions is a great exercise for the eyes. The focal yo-yo (if you are shooting iron sights) can be mastered completely whit dry practice. When you go to the range, practice doubles (control pairs) on 25m. It's a great meter for your trigger control but at the same time is the recoil control management test. The gun needs to recoil very consistently (no surprises). Let us know how you do!

Okay so I have sights that cowitness with the red dot to be exact I have the m18 w Romeo pro 1. Where do I place the dot
@TacticalPerformanceCenter
@TacticalPerformanceCenter Жыл бұрын
In general, if you align the co-witness sights, the red dot must be on the upper edge of the front sight (if the sights are zeroed correctly). BUT...! ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻When using the red dot and its functional, totally ignore the mechanical sights. Be aware not to look at the dot but to focus exactly where you need to hit the target. ...then react to the color red when you see it inside of that area (or whatever color is the illumination of your dot).

There can be many factors coming into play. Tell us where the hits are going vs. aiming. The most common mistakes are anticipation of the recoil or flinching. those are two different phenomena. One is a mental reaction to the recoil, and the other is a sympathetic squeeze of the fingers of the shooting hand while pulling the trigger. For anticipation, please watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2iwm5xrnryohKM To improve your trigger pull watch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pme0lomJe7GGqLc and kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4uthZikn6aba6M

The red dot mfrs. should include your video with every unit they sell. I hate to admit my ignorance but the first red dot sight I had, I didn’t understand the concept and sighted the dot over the rear sight. I thought,”what a waste of money, there is no improvement over an iron sight. The red dot had a groove that would act like a rear sight if the red dot failed. A year after I purchased this pistol I was at the range and a guy that I knew wanted to try my pistol. He said it shot two feet high at 20 yards. Tried and hit the bullseye for a five shot group. He adjusted my sight and showed me how to use it. I hope I’m not the only one who is this stupid. I now don’t know how I managed without a red dot.

@TacticalPerformanceCenter
@TacticalPerformanceCenter Жыл бұрын
@@valpairaviacionvalpair816 First of all, dry practice your hold. Hold your shotgun on a very small improved target on the wall for about 60 seconds at least 5 times a day, 3 times a week. Please make sure you will take all the safety precautions before the dry fire session. Do not try to completely make that dot static, but calmly accept its wobble. If the dot is inside the target area you can pull the trigger smoothly, moving only the trigger finger. Be aware not to increase the pressure with your shooting hand grip during the trigger pull! You can add the effect of Retraction to improve the stability of your hold. Please watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpXOdp9jh7N8n6c The principle is the same for the shotgun.

Good video but you left out the bad: Red dots can die with dead battery, die with parts failure (often), shift point of impact due to recoil over time, be deactivated by bad weather for starts. NONE of these issues are seen with a quality metal front post with tritium insert. Red dots work great on a rifle because there are a few models that dont use electronics such as Trijjicon ACOG and MEPROLIGHT, both combat proven. Only battery rifle red dot that can match is the military grade AIMPOINT. ALL OTHER rifle electric red dots are nothing but consumer sporting toys, and that includes Sig Romeo and fan boy Holosun. No way you will ever see a red dot on my defensive handgun, EVER!!!

The focus of the video is vision, not a product review, so we didn't comment on the reliability of the red dot sights. There are many brands on the market these extremely durable days. Some red dot sights have some issues when they are mounted directly on the slide of a handgun because of the shock they take with each shot fired. Every red dot sight has an electronic board inside, just some are more durable. The ultimate test is when they are mounted on the slide of the gun as a moving part. They take quite a dynamic impact back and forward the actual motion of the slide when the gun fires. Regardless, the producers improve their products every single day, and now these sights are way more reliable. We think that will be the future. In a few years that will be preferable sights mounted on almost any handgun.

Excellent video. Congratulations. But I can teach you how to use your weapon's iron sights with the advantages of the red dot. 2 eyes open, focus on threat and transparent. And you don't need this infinity of types of focus. Read my book: INSTINCTIVE COMBAT SHOOTING: Traditional training does not prepare you for armed confrontation. Hug.

We are aware of the concept of target focus even with iron sights and are actively experimenting with it. The key is to have well-developed proprioceptive skills in place. We believe this approach can be challenging for beginners or less experienced shooters.
