Taking care of your skin, nails, eyebrows, haircut and perfecting the "no makeup" makeup look can make a difference. Please consider making a video about weekly maintenance/care. 👍😊 Also, taking care of our shoes/handbag (cleaning, repairing) is important.

A new tip I found is using bonding powder to fix threadbare spots in wool.I just bought a gorgeous 60s camel coat from Poshmark that has a tiny threadbare spot and the fabric bonding powder worked. You shave off some pills, cut them up finely, roll into a ball, iron, done and done!

Love your tips, go with them all! I am finding "my style" now in my 60s, little personal touches to jazz up outfits, ie scarf, or brooch or something hair wise. I'm a wig wearer of many years so rarely have a bad hair day and I can change up my daily look to suit my mood/outfit! I love French chic, always avoided black as thought it didn't suit me, but I've now decided it does and it's so sophisticated! My tip would be to invest in great bags and shoes, which elevate high street items. Love fashion but in a definite classic style. Some of my clothes which I love, are years old but I look after them well. Thank you! 🤗😍😎

All hail the FIT! I have to alter the length of all my long sleeves, and often take my pieces to have princess seams added to follow my curves, which are very pronounced...it's an added expense, but the difference is incredible.

I think vintage jewelry and great accessories can update any outfit. It's like changing throw pillows and a rug to update a room without investing in new furniture. Great tips as always!

Hi Alyssa! This subject is so interesting that I must add a few things that I think are very important: shoes must be clean, fixed and in good shape; bags: the material and color must be in good shape too. Nails: should be not so long and at least, with nail polish. Hair: I agree with you. I add: no roots, a haircut and a healthy hair. Kisses from Buenos Aires!! (I'm watching all your videos to be updated)

Yes....well groomed and polished is always a way to look elegant. Columns of one color in a long silhouette does have an elegant look. I like framing it with sweeping lines of silk...which can have a small pattern. Hair....it is an issue at times....but nothing like a beautifully made fedora or other hat to elevate (literally makes you look taller) to get that long, fluid line of pure elegance

Have you done a ‘body types’ video or something where you point out iconic looks & the body types that frequently pull them off well? I am getting ready to scale back my wardrobe & would like to do a better job of dressing my ample apple body type. Any resources you could point me towards would be helpful. ( Like a boyish figure looks great in that straight 60s inspired suit, or an hourglass + DVF style wrap dress is heaven)

My short: 1. Shifting your mindset that you need a lot of clothes 2. Fit - also adjusting a bought piece 3. Wrinkle free - steaming, ironing 4. Neutrals - find own lighter ones, classic prints 5. Structure - clean cut blazer, trousers 6. Styling - what you already having, accessories 7. Personal touch - sth own 8. Good hair 9. Smile :) My adds: 1. Matched colors - Knowing own color palette 2. Cared nails 3. Leather things - bags, shoes 4. Cared basic pieces

I love this advice. As someone who has been wearing clothes for 60+ years, I have a good idea of what suits me. One thing, neutrals on me, if that has to mean beige in all forms, will never happen! Colour means personality and that does not have to equate to trashy. Something that lacks, is wearing a slip to stop clinging clothes. Why does nobody do that anymore?

Great tips! One thing I don't do that I"m sure would help is taking care of my nails. I distract away from them using other parts of my outfit, earrings, hair, etc ('cause I just don't want to bother with my fingernails), but I do know that your hands can make a big difference in an overall impression. Oh, and having good quality, clean shoes that aren't scuffed up.
@preston68145 жыл бұрын
christina manucy I don’t like to spend time on my nails either, but a quick way to maintain your nails is to file them, I keep them short, push back your cuticles and then put on clear or a sheer nail polish. I like mademoiselle by Essie. It goes on smoothly without any streaks and chips aren’t noticeable and it looks great with any skin tone. 😊

Maaike van Dijk-Bokkers, it doesn’t work well in the states either. It sends me alerts on things that had no price change and sometimes glitches to show everything in nonsense currencies (not just not showing in dollars but saying one thing is pounds and another euros without the conversion being correct when they are all saved from US sites). It did help me get a basic pair of boots I needed at 70% off that I couldn’t have afforded full price though.

Any old thing looks elevated with a good pair of shoes and a good bag. They don't have to be a designer brand, just well made and in good condition. Personally, I can't stand accessories with obvious designer logos.They are self-aggrandizing, which is not classy. Here’s another tip I don’t think you mentioned - before walking out of the house - no matter where you are going - check yourself in a full length mirror! How does my make-up look? Do my clothes look fresh and everything in good condition! Sometimes you can catch a stain on a tee shirt or a hem coming out - you just never know! That last check can add to your confidence as you step into the world.

Wash in cold water. Squeeze item gently, don't wring it out. Let it soak for a bit, or long as desired. Rinse, rinse, rinse. Squeeze dry. Leave in sink to drain for a bit. Hang dry wovens. Loosely knit, or sweaters, dry flat on towel. Towel with garment can be rolled, squeezed and towel replaced with a dry one. If you have a screen, place across bathtub and shape sweater on top to dry.
