Is that the Barreto Hydraulic Rear Tine Tiller 13 Hp? I'm amending soil at a no-dig farm in the South Bay, CA and it has super dry and compacted "Bay Area Clay" as I like to call it. There are cracks in the soil which is more like a rock so I'm looking for something that can actually break it up once just to get the amendments in.

Yes, that's a Barreto walk behind tiller. I've also been impressed with our newish Bobcat tiller attachment that attaches to our skid steers, even the one that attaches to our walk behind skid steer. -John

I live in the Central valley in California and this looks like where I live. Where are you guys hailing from? I appreciate these tips I'm about to tell my veggie patch for the first time properly after planting it for 2 years.

We live in Georgia. Our soil is orange clay color. If we plant it acts like a bowl and drowns the plant. We love your products and always use your products. They work awesome!

Dig you a hole about a foot deep and bury a fish where you are putting your plant. In the too few inches add a couple handfuls of alfalfa pellets. Then cover with a few inches of shredded leaves and grass clippings mixed and throw some more alfalfa pellets on top. Your plants will grow well and the decomposition will loosen the clay. I bury all different kinds of organic matter in trenches in my garden rows. Fish, kitchen waste, garden waste, shredded paper with alfalfa pellets mixed, manure from plant eating animals and literally anything organic that breaks down. I went from hard clay that looked a clay pot to decent soil in one season. By next season I expect to have great soil. I'm gonna throw everything under the sun into my soil and mulch with shredded leaves and grass clippings and alfalfa pellets. I'm also adding the jadam fertilizer to get good micorrihzal fungi in the soil. I'm trying all the tricks at the same time lol. It definitely can't get worse than what I started with and organic matter in the soil always helps.

That would be great to see! Unfortunately this garden was planted last summer in 2020 and we moved our garden to a different location this summer, so it is no longer there anymore :/

107 and he had that long sleeve shirt on? What a mad scientist, I'm curious about this product, I have plants in the ground. I'm think I'm just going to till them all into the ground after the season is over, half of the garden only grew 2-3 feet tall over the last few months, it's cute little tomato plants corn squash and peppers.. all fruiting 1 or 2 full size fruits... it's an odd site, the rain seemed to wave washed the top layer away, I may also add some compost to the soil next year as well

Consider adding lots of our Blend, Worm Gold Plus earth worm castings (available on Amazon) or Equal and then spraying over the top with our Penetrate Liquid Biotiller - then report back on your yields. You'll receive much more value with this approach than only using compost :)

Our clay is like orange red, we live in northern Georgia outside of Atlanta. Your soil looks different than mine. Would I still follow the same steps?
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, follow the same steps. All problem soils (sandy, clay, etc) require similar protocols with our products. The main things with clay soil of any kind are to break it up initially to improve the exchange of air & water and then infusing that troublesome soil with all levels of beneficial soil life. If you want to send us pictures or need more advice you can always reach out to us at customerservice@johnandbobs.com :)

I have existing vegetable beds with vegetable plants in them. The plants aren't doing well and I wondered if I should use the Blend and the liquid till on the garden beds even though the plants are already planted. Thanks
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can and that is exactly what I recommend. Topically apply about 35lbs per 1,000sq ft Blend ASAP and then spray about 8oz of our Penetrate-Liquid Biotiller over the top of the Blend and it's fine if it gets on the plants. One month after applying let me know how the garden has responded.

Hi I want to know what’s the shelf life of heavy clay soil amendment kit? Thanks
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 4 жыл бұрын
Jag Dhillon All of the dry amendments will last indefinitely as long as you don’t mix them together and as long as you keep them dry. The Penetrate-Liquid-BioTiller will also last indefinitely, but its power and viability decreases after one year. It should be stored in temperatures between 35 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thanks for the comment :) It may seem like a lot of work, but after these initial steps you just add John & Bob's Blend twice a year on top of soil and water in. Chemical products end up being a lot more work in the long run.
