What if I want to automate the answers/calculations once the responder clicks on the answer, behind the scene the calculation is done. I did a project with the automated method. but I lost the project with all the steps. I just can't remember how I did, I do remember I used a little VBA. Example: I email the questionnaire to the responder, the person clicks the selected answer for all the questions. it's like 50 questions with 5 answers to select. Satisfied=1, Neutral=2 and so forth, than the questionnaire is emailed back to me, I open it with a password to display the hidden sheet with all the calculation. Thank you.

That sounds cool! I don’t think I know how to do that full process in excel, but I would create the survey in something like google forms or Microsoft forms, have them fill it out there, then export the data to excel - you can set up your pivot tables w that first export and then for all future exports you can just paste in the new data, refresh the pivot tables and your new data are analyzed.

You definitely can do that too! and if you're comfy with pivot tables, I'd definitely recommend that. One thing though I do like about this way is that if you have a large number of columns with the same likert-type response data you can easily copy/paste across the rows/columns to analyze in one big swoop, rather than use a pivot table for individual variables. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6PMYpKfi8yYbJo

Is it possible to put this data into a stacked column chart combo chart with trendlines of the questions overlayed on the chart?

Yep you probably could - though for this specific type of data I’d usually use a diverging stacked bar chart to compare the items as a snapshot in time. If you had longitudinal data you could def take one item over time and use a stacked bar or column to compare totals over time. stephanieevergreen.com/diverging-stacked-bars/

@SpotlightImpact okay thanks for this feedback. I've tried and it looks like either my table format is incorrect or something in the likert data doesn't translate in Excel to where the columns represent a survey issues on a certain date, each bar withing a columns representing a survey data and how ever expanded or contracted the bar is tells you it's % with a trendline from left to right showing the dips of each bars as well as being a line that identifies the questions. Doesn't seem possble
