How to append scenes from older blend files

Hello! It's been an increase in people getting stuck in my older tutorials because of changes in Blender breaking backwards compability. So in this video we'll go through the process of installing an older blender version and appending older project files without breaking the UI in Blender 4.0 and newer. Thanks for watching!

Fortunately, I've been working with computers and programming for a few decades, otherwise that WOULD be a problem... 😅 Right now I'm working on combining some of your old tuts with some of the new ones that have techniques the older Blenders (or my previous computer 😳) just weren't capable of. (Specifically my current project is doing the twisting crystals animation with the drone fly-by) with more to layered on top of that. UNfortunately, I'm still limited by my computer... I really wish I had that noisy beast on your desk. 😂 Either way, I'm learning, and THANK YOU! 😻👍

For backward compatibility I believe you have to use Blender 3.6. This version allows to open all files from previous versions of Blender, unlike the 4.0 series which does not support this. I think Pablo Vazquez mentions it.

Is appending a scene better than just opening the old blend file from within 4.0?

Does anybody have a work around to do the camera fly auto key frame work flow in the new blender. 4.2.1LTS ? Besides using an old blender

why would i do it in a older version when i need the camera work inside my project not a diffrent one?

yea... how to sample keyframes in 4+?

The sample keyframes feature was moved to Key -> Density -> Bake Keyframes in Blender 4.x, still available using the shortcut Alt + Shift + O. It's worth to mention that they've added a better solution called "butterworth smooth". You can go to Key -> Smooth -> Butterworth Smooth in Graph Editor, or press the shortcut Alt + S.
