Great advise by Phil here...as he always does. I have used Magnum Wax before as well and can say a little goes a long way and you don’t want to apply it too thick as then it’s hard to wipe off and you’ll lose that slick feel as well. Awesome thing with Magnum is you can leave that stuff on a long long time (of course not in the sun) and for example you could go eat lunch and then come back to wipe off. Wipe off is super easy if applied thin.

Aussie guy here :) A big hello to Phil + Jess, I have Adam's Graphene spray coating on my bonnet/hood after polishing with a DA after someone's cat was sliding around on my car. The rest of the car has Gyeon Can Coat on it. So far Adam's Graphene spray coating is the best spray coating I have ever used (haven't tried a full ceramic coating) it keeps the bonnet so clean "black paint" and if it has a layer of dust covering it, all it needs is a flood of running water to wash it off and it sheets it off and leaves no water behind...1 thing I did notice is the bottle needs a lot of shaking as the product is darker at the bottom and some what clear at the top and doesn't mix with just 1-2 quick shakes. I found that it does rainbow when flashing off and I waited till the rainbow effect started to diminish and removed the residue with one cloth ( very easy removal ) and buffed with a second to make sure I didn't miss and spots..

@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Good question. So basically a sealant is a synthetic form of a wax. It’s usually lasts longer. Bit waxes and sealants and fill very slightly but they don’t fill in scratches and swirls like some think. I would use a soft pad and a sealant like Powerlock on the soft spoiler paint.

Your wash method of claying while contact washing seems like an excellent way to avoid IPA wipedown. The clay lubes I've used (Meg's, Mother's, CG's) needed either an IPA wipedown or a 2nd contact wash on the vehicle. What are your thoughts on clay lubes and needing an IPA wipedown?
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yeah it certainly speeds things up. Do you mean an ipa after using a clay lube and before polishing or protection is applied? Even after using a clay lube I just go straight to either waxing or sealant or right to compounding/polishing. The residue left behind is negligible. I have never seen it cause any issues for us.

Phil in my business I have chosen to use a spray Si02 instead of a wax, i.e. Griot's 3n1, TW Ceramic or TLC2, for two reasons, they will last 4-6 months and it's quick. I haven't found the time to wax. Which is the best for gloss, durability, and your business in general, the Meguiar's wax machine applied or Griot's 3 n 1?
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
That’s totally understandable. I like the fact that machine applying liquid waxes adds to the gloss and does help remove some marring, but if the paint is in good shape and didn’t need much clay mitting or clay barring we also prefer to use a spray product. The Griots 3n1 spray wax is pretty awesome stuff. As far as durability goes, I guess it depends on how well it’s cared for and how much it driven.

Thanks again for another informational video! Now I know you said you work inside your garage, but what do you recommend for high humidity situations (like right now in the DMV) when it comes to spray wax and sealants in a non-climate controlled garage? I found that depending on the humidity factor (regardless of temperature), this job becomes a huge chore when doing the final buff by hand. However, if humidity is low, the same application of wax and sealant is a breeze and the microfiber wipes smooth and silky. Thanks for all you and your lovely wife do for us with these instructional videos and tutorials! And I took your advice about using Isopropyl alcy on trim in case we get wax on rubber/plastic trim, and cleaned everything off quite well. I sincerely appreciate that huge tip, and saves me a trip to the gas pump to fill up some extra gas for the spray bottles.
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Humidify is crazy here also in the summer. Usually we have to be careful with over application of spray waxes and sealants. We also will use a damp towel or a mist of water on the panel after waxing or sealant and that can help with streaks and smears.
@harrynazarian3184
@harrynazarian3184 3 жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing Hey Phil, I watched this video again (3rd time now - LOL), and I took your advice about using a damp microfiber towel, and it felt like it got worse. It was very grabby and I kept rolling the microfiber towel until I gave up and just clump a bunch of the microfiber towel into my fist and tried to wipe it off as best I can. When doing the final buff with a dry towel, it wasn't as grabby, but still grabby. Would you recommend using something more slick when it comes to high humidity such as a detail spray? I tried that method on the trunk, and it definitely made things easier to wipe down, but I was afraid I was rubbing off the protection I applied. I used the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions 3 in 1 detailer spray with ceramic solution. Am I over thinking it or is it fine? Thanks for being patient in answering my questions. :)

@@harrynazarian3184 I run into the same problem. Luckily I don't have to do mobile much anymore. What kind of towels are you using? I found a big thick fluffy high pile towel can make things *much* harder than they have to be in high humidity. If the paint isn't overly sensitive, switch to the thinnest short knap terry style towel you can get away with. Some of my favorite general towels for mobile are the Spectrum from TRC. Very soft and thick enough to be quite safe, but the towel covers either scenario. If the paint is finnicky I go with the high pile, otherwise I buzz right around with the excellent terry side. Using the plush side is easier on dual pile towels too, because the thinner profile reduces bunching and rolling, and the banding gives you a very secure hold. I also *love* their FTW glass towel for wax removal. I saw Mike Phillips use it for wax and polish removal, and it is *amazing* used that way. They have Spectrums but they don't have FTWs on Amazon yet though, have to order direct from TRC's site. You can definitely use a slick spray to aid removal if that works for you, won't hurt a thing. If you're overly concerned, stick with something like a straight pure spray wax. Something with no or very minimal cleaners and surfactant additives. 👍✌ Spectrum: www.amazon.com/dp/B00S1U5TWA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_1362PNG8YVEN0P952DD9 FTW: theragcompany.com/products/ftw

Phil, do you ever use a machine to apply a spray sealant or is it worth the time? Or does it save anytime? Also, my black vehicle is garaged and does not see a lot of daylight. My everyday drive, white GMC Caynon, gets either hand washed or waterless wash every other day, does it hurt to apply a wax or sealant on to once a month and if I do does it need a paint enhancement prior?
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. If it’s a spray sealant it’s easier and faster to apply by hand since it’s basically wipe on and wipe off. It certainly doesn’t hurt to wax or seal your vehicle once a month. Hi. Usually paste waxes will have less cleaners in them and may last a little longer than liquid waxes. But liquid sealants will last longer then those waxes. It depends on the Spray wax and sealant, but those can also lay a long time.

Nice video the power lock is great you should check out the ultra lock ! And the finishing wax by Meguiars is a great one for lightly polishing and sun friendly. If you maintain with the finishing wax machine applied do you always need to clay before ? Or just every year or so
