However, Walker didn’t move back and forth in a straight line as instructed. Instead, he began by moving in north to south lines, but quickly began moving east to west. Will that make a difference?

Hey there! It is perfectly fine to use alternating directions, such as cross-hatching, as long as you cover the last pass to ensure there aren't any missed areas or high spots.

Hey there! Machine polishing will remove any scratches and swirls but if you are satisfied with the level of shine it is perfectly fine to apply your coating.

Hey, I have a ‘87 Porsche Carrera with stock Fuchs wheels. The black anodized portions are always fading. I have tried everything, short of sending them off to be refinished. Do you think, after approximately cleaning and prepping, that an application of a ceramic product would return them to their black shiny selves? I am reluctant to paint them and really don’t have the budget to have them refinished. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ceramic adds more protection that can be thought of as almost another layer of clear coat that absorbs abrasions, repels water spots and resists harsh elements.
