My problem is that I get the shiny mirror look and then when I apply top coat it turns back to a glittery look

i always cut my thumb nails down to like a medium or short length and have my fingers with long or extra long. the thumb is what makes long nails nearly impossible to do daily life tasks without modifying how you do everything but shortening them allows the look of long nails without the hassle lol

That's honestly really smart! I feel like it would bug me to see it shorter though LOL I might just have to keep suffering hahah

I just got a green chrome at the supply store on the weekend! I had no idea chrome was as prone to chipping as foil! Now I am prepared, though!

Tape works well at getting powder off my hands.

I wished you would of had problems... lol I know that sounds terrible - but chrome gives me troubles, sometimes worse than stamping !! I go to apply the finish top coat and it won't glide on. It pools and streaks, and looks like oil on top of water. Can't figure out why, and or, how to prevent it, let alone fix it. It becomes a game of keep polishing, to get as much coverage as you can, and into the light as fast as you can. Hopefully you get 80% coverage, so you can do a second coat, that will stick... Then I may have to buff out streaks and re top coat... See how this has me crying and screaming, worse than stamping !!! Thanks for sharing, was another great video... 😊

To prevent that, you need to apply a generous amount of top coat, and flipping your nail upside down does help fill those bald spots! Then when you flip it again you just need to double check the sides and cure. A second layer of top coat will smooth everything out and it's always recommend to double seal chrome anyway! Or you could also try doing one layer of base coat and then one layer of top coat, that can also help (even though I've found that some base gels dull the chrome out a little bit so test it on a tip before) ❤ I hope that helps

@@d.on.in.a So, your saying that when I am originally applying the 1st attempt at top coat, I don't have enough on the brush? That for chrome, your really need a loaded brush? Which could totally be true - I keep it thin like I am just going over, a regular nail.. The thing that always baffled me was, why is no one else experiencing this problem? I've watched ever video that someone posts with Chrome, and they never have these problems. And it can't be their editing it out, I watch the top coat glide over the chrome, in my case it starts separating, asap. On a regular nail, yes I do the flip, never have on a chrome one, because I couldn't get coverage on it, let alone have it coverage on it and it stay long enough for a flip, like I said if I get it 80%, it's then a race into the lamp, before it starts to separate again.

@@catpride1323 yes! This will also help you floating it on the chrome without touching its surface too much, which gives a better end result. The density of the product could also be an issue, if it's too liquid it will have a harder time staying on

@@d.on.in.a I forgot to mention I did try the, use base coat 1st method too. They dulled the chrome, just like you said it might. In fact I have tried base coat, primer, protein bond from YN, and tacky from LE. All of them dulled the chrome ... And again, a step I wasn't seeing other creator's have to do. I even thought it was my brand of chrome, so I have purchased several different kinds. No name from China, Born Pretty from China as well. Daily Charme & Whats up from USA, and Magpie from UK. Got same results from all of them.. At the end of the day I am always left with the question, why is no one else having these problems??

@@catpride1323 a lot of people are having them, just not sharing them on social media! A couple more tips: 1. Under cure the top coat lightly, then rub chrome, then finish curing before sealing it 2. Use the chrome immediately after curing, when the top coat is still hot 3. Really take your time rubbing it in and apply enough pressure 4. If the chrome looks dull, spray your nail with isopropyl alcohol and cleanse it, then reapply (this one works like a charm) And good luck! Haha not all chromes work the same, and not all top coats and lamps cure the same! It takes trial and error!
