They are looking for GP appointments, medications, treatments etc. Many many elder people cannot actually get an appointment.. When you do, its a "waiting list" for further treatment and you never hear back!!

It's true that you should include all those things, and they are important. But don't forget to list things that most people forget about: if you use a pill box because you struggle to get the tablets out, if you have to lean on furniture to get around, if you can't get in and out of the bath etc. All of these things should be listed, even if they feel minor and like a general part of life, it helps build a picture of whatever the applicant is struggling with.

We keep being told that there are certain benefits available for us to claim,like Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit,but then they make near impossible for us to claim these benefits by making the forms so complicated people give up trying and they keep repeating the questions on nearly every second page what,s that all about?I have had 4 assessments so far 2 for when I claimed ESA and 2 for Attendance Allowance and I got another letter last week saying I have to do it all over again they seem to think that our disabilities just go away after a few months,well mine just get worse as I get older,having worked for over 40yrs. in construction you end up with a lot of health issues,but the people doing these assessments don`t see the problems because they are on the inside and they just look at us like we are scroungers,ok that,s my rant over.

If your unable to claim. A A yourself you can get AGE UK. to put the claim in for you. they are experts at filling the forms in so i found when they were successful at getting my A A thats how i managed it. Perhaps there is something your not quite doing right . Give it another go . Good luck. Ron

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through all this, it really is unfair that the process is so complicated. I hope you have had some success by now. If you live in or around Haverhill (including Newmarket) you can give us a call on 0800 009 6710 and we can help with advice, filling in forms etc for free too, but we do only have the capacity to help those in our local area. Worth checking if you have any other local charities, as well as Age UK as someone has said, also Citizens Advice although they do get busy.

Do you have to send new forms every year or just it just run on until you may have to let them know there are changes?
@tinastimson7005Ай бұрын
Normally only if the impairments change then you need to inform DWP

My husband is profoundly deaf, has acute IBS and has severe problems reading because of poor schooling. He needs coomunication support now. Needs support when his IBS causes him to soil himself - 2 to 3 times a week. He could not complete the form because he could not read it properly so I did it for him. He was refused. I have appealed because I know he is entitled to AA for the communicarion support element alone. How do I know - I worked for 23 years with Deaf and deafblind people.

Hello friend, here's hoping that your appeal is successful, best of luck!!

If you are going to try to get attendance allowance go to citizens advice first. They will help you to fill in the form. They know all the tricks the people checking your form will do to reject your claim.

We also have certified advisers but unfortunately we only have the resources for our local area. If anyone comes from Haverhill in Suffolk or surrounding areas, please do call us and we can guide you through page by page - 0800 009 6710.

I'm sorry to hear that - unfortunately it can take up to a huge 15 weeks, although sometimes much faster. Be sure to keep checking your account though, quite often the money will arrive and the letter follows much later. Best of luck.
