@@ohiyominnie We are going to visit BLS International Services Calgary tomorrow for the submission of OCI applications which I have filled in as per your expert guidance. There was confusion among our friends about what to show at the column at NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER under the head APPLICANT'S INFORMATION. I have mentioned my PASSPORT NUMBER as suggested by you. I hope it's in order, however, please advise. Secondly, I talked with BLS International Services Calgary asking what to produce as a proof of address as I don't have any proof as listed on the website. The concerned official advised me to attach a statement of the Bank with whom I have an account. My Identification Card expired in October, 2023. I welcome your suggestions if any. I am 81.

Hello Me neither. Sorry, I'm not familiar with subsistence marriage contracts. A marriage certificate that has been officially registered from the province's Office of the Registrar General is required. or via the Indian MRO (Marriage Registrar Office).

Hi Manali, In my opinion, submitting your documents in person is far easier and more convenient than mailing them. I would advise visiting BLS (you can walk in or make an appointment, depending on the jurisdiction). Since BLS in Ottawa is not extremely busy, walk-ins are welcomed with ease. Additionally, you must submit two distinct demand drafts rather than just one if you send mail (one for the OCI fee and another for the BLS fee, which is otherwise payable via debit card).

Hello Tracy Yes, we applied for a surrender certificate first and waited a few weeks to get that and then we applied for OCI.

Hello Under OCI miscellaneous services checklist, it mentions left thumb impression for baby boy and right thumb impression for baby girl. We submitted the right thumb impression for our baby girl in Canada and it worked for us. We have received our OCIs. If you have an appointment for the day after tomorrow, you will bring your original and copies of all the requisite documents along with the completed application and submit there. You don't have to mail the documents if you have an appointment and go there in person.

Hello Taranbir You just have to carry your original and copies of all the documents for their verification. BLS don't keep your original passport for OCI application, they give it back to you after verifying. Only when you apply for a visa do they keep your passport.

Yes they have removed the link. Now you need to call their helpdesk to generate the Purolator label and unfortunately each shipping costed me $62 instead of $30 back in December 2023.

Original Surrender Certificate of Indian Citizenship 3. Original Canada Passport 4. Original Canadian Citizenship Certificate Photocopies of all the 4 original documents as well. Hope this helps !!

Hi Satvir Please make sure the documents are in PDF format (not jpg or any other format) and the max file size can be 1000 kb. I filled my friend's application this morning, and they are being uploaded fine.

Hello For minors below 5 years of age, just a thumb impression on the application is required and they don't have to be there. However both parents need to sign the NOC form for the minor, and any one legal parent can submit the application with all the original and copy documents for the minor.
