Need a video update on this to see how it performed and what the paddle looks like now.

After watching your video I was motivated so search for a spray paint with grit and found rustoleum anti-skid. I spray paint on one of my paddles and will see how it works come Monday. Might be another good option with just one process.

how did it work? stay on OK

@@2000thewomanit worked good and has stayed on nice. I did 3 of the 4 paddles and both me and my son get 0:02 allot of spin out of the $20 paddle. We kept 1 untouched just to see the difference and the grit makes a difference for sure.

@@trefflek. This will make your paddle illegal in any tournament. The USAPA says you cannot have a paddle surface rougher than 320 grit sandpaper. If you want to add more grit and keep your paddle legal, just buy 320 grit sandpaper and sand it.

If you mixed the grit with the glue that may give a more even application.

Any update on how it's holding up? Also, I don't suppose 2nd application is an option?

To 'hide grit showing, overspray with dark clours ( black, grey, dark blue, purple etc.) and another semi gloss clear / varnish? Heat gun over it lightly to dry out completely and try to see if 'modification' is visible? If it is, spray another dark colour ( lightly or peeling of paint will be visible).

Thanks for a great idea! I wasn’t happy with the Gorilla glue. Wasn’t strong enough for me. I used Flex Seal rubber coating spray instead as base glue and finishing glue. Have to say it looks and feels much better!
@danmartin37146 ай бұрын
Did you use the clear Flex Seal or black? Wondering what will look the most natural like it comes from the factory?
@user-jc6pr5el5g5 ай бұрын
It's not a great idea, it's a dbag idea - it's basically cheating against your friends and playing partners. Don't be a dbag.
@danmartin37146 ай бұрын
If I don't use the gorilla glue will it look less glossy like yours. I am putting it on a black paddle and I was going to try it without the extra glue. I'm guessing it won't stay on as long but hopefully it is less noticeable?
@yukuhana3 ай бұрын
I guess Lucid has come up with the sprayer version which you would spray before and after sprinkling; no need to Gorilla spray anymore.

the problem for you I think is using the Franklin paddle, which uses a surface level grit, instead of a naturally gritty material

?? If you use sandpaper on your paddle, you'll make its surface smoother, not grittier.
@Pretzel86c11 ай бұрын
I don’t think that’s correct. Take 320 grit sandpaper and rub it on your wooden dining room table or any finished wood surface and tell me it’s smoother. To get a smoother surface you would need sandpaper with finer grit than what the surface currently has. Even then you would need the correct sanding technique and pressure to actually make it smoother.
