6:50 this is all fine for anything software because you can probably execute a lot faster than most BigCos. The question is, how are these things going for hardware and automotive startups? Everything costs a metric shitton of money there and really there's a bigger chance of BigCo having the money and going faster than you.

@garrytan It seems like most of the people in yc always have this perfect technical background, a good team surrounded by Ivy League school networks and an opportunity where it is worth to take the risk. What should people do who don’t have this technical knowledge and an entrepreneurial network but want to start something out of college? Now the odds of declining a great company like McKinsey for a startup seem way worse. What would you recommend?

Hello Garry Tan, Thank you for this particular episode and conversation. John is one of my favorite KZbin Creators because like he mentioned, I am always inspired whenever I watch his videos especially about the ability of Tech to change the world for good. I have looked at Initialized's Website and what you are interested in. I was skeptical about reaching out but I am emboldened after reading this particular statement from the website; 'Many of our best investments have come from talented founders who shifted their skills into a new or untested field.' This I believe qualifies my idea as a potential match for funding. However, I did not see how to contact your organisation for a possible pitch. For full disclosure, I am a Nigerian, who has worked and lived his entire life in Nigeria. I would very much like an opportunity to pitch my idea to you and your team, I just need to know how I should be able to do that.

I am looking forward to the day altcoins are no longer affected by bitcoin price fluctuations. The stock's market has enough opportunities to earn a decent payouts, with the right skills and proper understanding of how the market works.

Process of applying is a good exercise, but wish I knew the "soft" goals before applying and getting rejected. They like to see insane growth, +3% week-over-week(?), and a path to a billion dollar exit. The number of ventures that can reach that are infinitesimally small.

YC doesn’t require those metrics before you get in. Lots of people have just a demo and team.

Incredible! You continue to inspire us and introduce us to valuable information.
YC is dead , all they fed on was on cheap liquidity since 2005 .Now interest rates will make sure that no shitty loss making startup is up grown and scaled . People should now go for profit making start ups even if take far more time .You can't fool around with any fairy tale story and get funded , show profits
Any tips on getting into the YC marketplace? We've helped a couple of YC companies and have also been referred directly to a YC coordinator by one of them. Still no luck. We help Pre Series-D B2B SaaS startups with ads and SEO.
Hi Gary, I am from Nepal and did wanted to apply but I figured out not a single startups from Nepal has been funded by YC. So has there been any application from Nepalese startup so far?
Just out of incubator from Singapore. Working on ESOPs backed lending platform. Now moving to US from India for masters just for damn Visa. Worried that if I'm beating around the bush.
Garry your always inspiring me, with the amazing visionary people you invite on your vlogs gives me the understanding and confidence that I am on the right journey and path to bring my unique niche vision to the World. I look forward in discussing with YC. John Smith Gumbula - Australia 🐨🦉🦘🙏🏽🤝🏽👍🏽
