Thank you so much this clear concise introduction in opening up the fingerboard! I feel there is an inherent reluctance when venturing into the “deep water” and your approach was extremely helpful in reassuring us that we will not drown in the process! 🙏

Thank you so much for this! I have been continuing learning the violin at 28 and i still cant seem to play higher positions. It feels so scary to move it and the sound will be out of tune. Thanks so mucb for explaining it so well! By the way, can you also teach how we would know when to use what scale and in which position?
@JoyLeeViolin
@JoyLeeViolin Жыл бұрын
Dear Viennaz, you are not alone feeling scary about playing high positions. Little by little you will see that bringing left arm closer to our body while adjusting can be easier than we think. And regarding your question about how to know which position to use, it is often decided for the comfort of LH. Minimizing shifting would be also one of the important points when choosing the positions. I hope you can try, Happy practising Viennaz!

Thanks David. Do you mean the slide at shifting or sliding notes like glissando as a musical effect?
@davidhuckaby832
@davidhuckaby832 3 жыл бұрын
@@JoyLeeViolin I meant the slides when going up 3 octave scales. I learned recently that there are different ways and places to slid for going up and down 3 octives. Thanks for all your help!

Hi David, in scales the first step would be to shift with French shifting. Here is a video about different kinds of shifting. Happy practising! kzbin.info/www/bejne/naCodK2GbKh2hq8

Hi Piano Lady, the second position on the G string can start from the note B or note Bb. It can be B major or other keys depending on where you put half step notes. Happy practising!

@JoyLeeViolin
@JoyLeeViolin 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Noora, there are many G flat notes you can play on the violin. One of them is the G flat on the D string which you can play either with the 3rd or the 2nd finger. Happy music making!
@davidhuckaby832
@davidhuckaby832 3 жыл бұрын
Its F sharp. Go to D string--go up D,D#,EF,F#,G. 3rd finger on D string. Now go down half step. That is G flat or F sharp. Know that BC are always next to each other and EF are also. Memorize this
