Hi Michelle- Last year, I hosted a large local event on international women's day in my city (Syracuse, NY) called the CNY Women's Summit. I was 23 years old and hungry to build my professional network after graduating during a pandemic. Planning the event was by far my most proud professional accomplishment to date. We not only met our attendance goal, but we doubled it. I wish I could have discovered your content last year while planning my first large event. It was chaotic but I pulled it off! Usually the marketing department or brand manager will be your best bet. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and they even have a sponsorship manager or director. Try LinkedIn to find your person directly.

I would recommend reaching out (try finding the contact on LinkedIn - although often companies use outside agencies to manage their event initiatives and sponsorships, so you may need to dig to find the contact). Also sometimes there are regional and local, budgets, and sometimes you go to the National contact. Yes, having some sort of professional sponsorship “deck” (that’s the lingo) to present would be standard and expected on their side. Sponsorship decks are presentations that outline the opportunity: the event target market, the event objective / vision / mission / etc., as well as the sponsorship categories, packages, and levels. I would like to know and also learn....about how we go abt doing a virtual events business. Nowadays because of the situation...i feel that going virtual is the only way to go. Thank you for the kind words. How to do sponsorships virtually is a great question!! The challenge is - I haven’t done it, so any content would be purely theoretical and not as powerful. One thing to consider is that no matter what happens humans will continue to gather in person, and companies will (eventually) continue to want to reach them, so I do believe live events will always be relevant.
