Thanks to you (and a friend who supplied a feed,nib and distributor) I was able to repair a Parker 51 that belonged to my late grandpa. Thank you very much. Your videos are clear, your voice is quite nice (where are you from?, I can't locate your accent quite well, I'd say Manchester.) and well, your videos are all-around great. Thanks again!

Buffer wheel ? No.To remove the scratches on most of my pens are individually polished carefully by hand.I start with nine grades of Micromesh followed by my special potion then finish with a polish ( Simichrome is popular) and finally i use Carnauba wax.For the cap a gold jeweler rouge cloth will give a good result.Hope that helps...Keep watching....

I've heard on FPN that Parker used a rosin based thread sealant on the pearlescent jewel to prevent it from coming out, but allowing it to be removed with the application of heat to soften the rosin. Have you found any problems with the jewels loosening the way you replace them? Great video!
@penkino112 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately they do not all come out as easy as this one.Yes some do have some kind of sealant and can be a little difficult to remove.The odd stubborn one will not move and i have had to drill it out...Thanks for watching...

Hi..Once the pen has been cleaned inside of any dried up ink then I always shellac the hood back on. If it has been cleaned then any change of ink colour can be done by simply flushing the pen with clean water. I would not recommend constantly removing the hood.
@goncalr17 жыл бұрын
I tried to use the pen after screwing the hood back on as tight as I could without shellacking the hood or sealing it in any other way and it leaked ink around the clutch ring

Hi, I was just wondering if shellacking the hood back in place is required? I imagine it would be a lot easier to clean in the future, or to fully flush ink to move to a new colour, if you could just unscrew it again and run it under water.

I have not seen you mention the black hard rubber spacer that is in the rear of many of the U.S. Aeros. They often vibrate themselves out in the sonicator and one needs to be sure the spacer is in place before reassembly if the collector came with one. (Later on, Parker heat fused the slit in the collector for the spacer and stopped putting one in. I do not think

Hi again..That is why i make these videos so that the newbie collector can actually see what is involved and hopefully it will help them.There only other option is to find a reference sight that explains it.Unfortunately a lot of these sights have so much jargon in gobbledygook that i have difficulty in understanding,and i like to think i know a little about pens.Therefore how can somebody who is new to fountain pens supposed to understand ? Spacer,sonicator,even i am baffled. Thanks.

Thank you so very much for your videos on dismantling servicing Parker Pens. I have one question concerning the dismantling of the Parker 21, 51, & 61. Are the techniques for taking them apart, the same for all or are there some small idiosyncrasies to be aware of? I realize there are differences in removing the feeding mechanisms, but, the hoods and barrels appear to be the same; as far as taking them apart. Thank you for your time.

Thanks a lot for the video, has been very helpful! The glue that you used in the video in order to put the hood in place, it's like a nail polish or something? Sorry, I just have basic skills in English.

If you suspect the jewel has a rosin based sealant, give the jewel area a good splash with some cigarette lighter fluid. (Naphtha) Preferably not in the area of an exposed flame. ;) Wipe it all off and try to remove it again. The Naphtha is a light lubricant, and enough of a solvent to break through the rosin. It is inert to any P-51 materials.

I have a question I have really hope you respond you have been a great help to me. Do you think that a Parker 51 filling mechanism the steel part that the sack goes inside of , will fit into a Parker 21?
@penkino15 жыл бұрын
Im not a 100% sure Mark, as i have not has a Parker 21 for many years. However if i remember right the Parker 51 sac protector is a little bigger than the 21s. Good luck

Grandmia Pens I have no interest in doing that I have purchased a few that I write with and I plan to keep some Parker’s & Montblanc’s but most of these pens I am restoring selling for a profit, aside from that I actually enjoy doing it. I have restored vintage motorcycles most of my life so I enjoy taking something old bringing it back making it look new again and giving it a 2nd life. I’m just still in the process of learning all of the specific ins and outs of the makes and models. I have the restoration process down pat I have no issues with that it’s just some of the small specifics like the question I’m asking you hear that I’m still learning but I am a quick study
