Hello, I love your video so much. They helped me so much during my discovering of the lighter world. You inspired me to start my own channel. I am so glad you enjoyed that Thorens video, hope you will my next one also. Have a great day, and thanks again for your support.

Just find your wonderful channel from my friend Michaels Case😊 I’m a modest collector of lighters…I have two Thorens lighters…one is the 1943 Christmas Army lighter….it works perfect to this day…great engineering indeed. As I live in Switzerland, I like “Made in Switzerland” and a a pipe smoker….I like Dunhill lighters too 😄😉💨💨💨

I have a single claw Thorens 81816 which I need parts for - specifically the claw spring. I see your very beautiful lighter has a flat, 'Z' shaped spring where mine has a torsion style spring which is broken. Is there anywhere to buy a replacement? Would the Z shaped spring work in mine? It looks like a more durable design. Thanks in advance! - Don

Not true. There are still plenty of handmade things of extreme high quality, such as many watches. But with such detail and quality comes a hefty price tag. But if you just mean anything mass produced in China and sold at Walmart for cheap, then yes you’re correct.

As someone who purchased a much more basic, but excellent condition Thorens single-claw, I have one question not addressed in the assembly video: Does the fluid reservoir use cotton (or other) filler, or is it empty? I find that mine evaporates quite quickly, thus my question. Also (apart from having the French tax stamp similar to yours), mine mentions on the side "Brevete' S.G.D.G" (which I understand to be a type of French patent) and a number; there appears to be toolmarks around this stamp as if it's a little imprecise. Would this or any other markings help me determine the age? I love the engineering of these, and I just want to know more (I know it's likely 1920s, but would love to narrow it down).

I have considered buying one of them for every day carry. They have some very attractive models. Are you still enjoying yours? I just got into vintage lighters this month and have spent way too much money already. I've never handled a Thorens but my first one is on the way, double claw. I prefer the looks of the single claw and currently have a bid on a mini model single claw.

Thanks, I found this useful in repairing my own. Any plans to do one for the “Teleflam” (pipe) model? Although they’re really almost completely identical save for the extendable wick post… The real pain is repacking the cotton in the fuel reservoir, especially in the Teleflam as the wick post has to be free to retract in/out of the reservoir while still getting adequate fuel exposure…

I would rather see this type of video more than any of the shorts I hate shorts I'm not on tiktok for a reason and thats because short form content sucks its a shame you don't have a video like this for all your lighters I might have subbed if your main focus was not the short garbage.

@@aayazahmed5389 Electrical appliances weren't common when the company started. Thorens' first gramophones were spring driven I would assume. Such a complicated design for a lighter wasn't common back then either and would have been a testament to the technical capabilities of the company.

Hello! I recently got a single claw Thorens nearly identical to the one in your video. I have a question, though. How did you manage to get yours to a mirror shine Polish? I was able to get my close, but not quite as shiny as yours. I was scared to use a machine and risk damaging the metal. Can you share how you did it? ------- Bonjour!

The single claw variants have always looked stunning to me, being able to see such a complicated mechanism by today's standards. I honestly thing that if somebody were to buy the patents for some of these older lighters they could successfully bring back these historic pieces

@histoireduneflamme1988
@histoireduneflamme1988 2 жыл бұрын
