This knight in first game was even more useful than pack of zipties in my Dodge.

Wow the quality of the play in these games is really getting amazing now - great to see this juxtaposed with some of the lower ranked games all in the same series, just shows how far there is to go

It kills me that once you said "black has a tactic here" I saw it immediately, but i missed it while watching the game. I feel like after every move i should repeat that magical phrase and somehow catch things.

14:20 You know why C4 is so good? Because it prevents black from infiltrating? No, because it's explosive.

The idea of exchanging the white Bishop for the black Knight on c6 in the Sicillian, and then planting the Knight on d5 was first played by the former world champion Vassily Smislov, in his game vs Iosif Rudakovsky, back in 1945. The game became famous in the Soviet Union, an instant classic, and was a compulsory lesson shown to all kids in chess schools all over the USSR.

I especially enjoyed the second last game where you were wondering if you might be stepping into a Greek Gift. Ironically, right before watching, I viewed another upload from a Grandmaster that was specific to the Greek Gift. Loved the breakdown of the game after. 🍕🍕🍕

at 31:15 Qxc2 was a much better option to counter attack the bishop

20:50 Definitely a welcome tangent. It's always useful to have a model game to solidify ideas in memory and it never hurts to absorb some chess culture!

At around 12.30 what about Rxc8? If you take with the queen then Nxb6+. If Rxc8 then Qxf7+ infiltrates and if Kxc8 then Rc3+ followed by Rc7 looks very strong.

Second game felt like playing an 800 who goes for scholar’s mate and then makes every mate-in-1 threat imaginable except they’re 2100 strength

I can honestly say in 40+ years of playing chess the words "now I assert my dominance" have never come out of my mouth before, during or after a game.

Hi Eric, big fan. Thanks to you I went from 400 to 750 elo. Might I suggest, let’s try not to spend too much time with the episodes aiming at 1800+. Most of the videos that helped me stopped helping around episode 35. Let’s start a new speed run please 🙏 much love from Bahrain

I am happy for you, that you improved, but i think it is a bit self centered to wish for fewer episodes with higher rating just because they dont benefit YOU that much. Maybe other people enjoy them?
