a fantastic video. Thank you so much. I've been sitting baffled at my sewing machine wondering how to do this. I can now finish my trousers. If I could I'd put a hundred likes on this.

@@HouseofMissSew second time I'm learning this. At first, it looked like something new, to learn. The-n, it came out clearer, that i saw it in a neckline. Quite grateful, in the way you took your class. I learnt it more.

@@HouseofMissSew I'm in Grays Essex at the moment but after lockdown will be in Suffolk/Grays have two homes ! 2 jobs, 2 lives !!! blame the pandemic! I would love to spend a weekend with you touching on basics, and some harder stuff! my main problem is numbers figuring out changes to a pattern etc I am now to the point where I trace every pattern now and try stuff on at certain stages.
@HouseofMissSew3 жыл бұрын
@@Miss_Melly_D It can be really hard to fit things to yourself. I usually trace a pattern and make a toile for almost everything I make. You ger to know the type of alterations you'll need to make for certain brands, or know which brands work best for your figure - a bit like clothes shops. When I can teach again in person I'd love to help you! :)

If your zipper goes all the way to the top, does it still need a hook and eye ? Cause I can’t really find space to sew onto
@HouseofMissSew2 жыл бұрын
No - if the zip closes up the opening to the top then you don’t need to add one. Take a look at shop bought clothing - most items won’t include a hook and eye. I prefer not to use a hook and eye on many garments.

Can you please explain to me what I am doing wrong? I cut my facing according to the pattern, but it always is short when I attach it to the skirt piece.
@HouseofMissSew Жыл бұрын
Do the pattern pieces have any notches to help you to match them together? Sometimes when you interface the facing this can make it feel like it’s shrunk but it shouldn’t be any smaller. Check that the paper pieces are correct by laying the facing piece onto the shirt pieces. They should match exactly. If they don’t then you’ll need to make them correct before cutting the fabric. When you match the facing to the skirt, start by matching together any side seams and centre front/ centre back markers. Make sure that you have a little overlap where the opening for the zip is, this doesn’t have to be the same as your seam allowance but you do need to have at least 6mm (1/4”) so you can turn in and finish the raw edge. Once you’ve matched and pinned at these places, then pin the remaining edges.

Where would the lining go? On top or beneath the facing?
@HouseofMissSew2 жыл бұрын
Hi - the lining would be attached to the lower edge of the facing.
