“Just fuckin’ use it, you know what I’m sayin’?” Got me there… hahah I’ve mentioned it before, the DIY videos are great man. Not a lot of content like this available on the interwebs. I’ve contemplated doing this before, but always feel that intimidation of not wanting to permanently screw something up. This is way easier than I thought it was… thanks JT!

Man if I can do it literally a dog probably can haha. Definitely an easy process. I will definitely consider doing more of these videos for sure!

which fidlock buckle is suitable for the unicorn? can you share link where i can buy it? thanks

They make a split bar fidlock so you would be able to use it for your application as well.

Hi there. Thank you for the video Question? I want to upgrade my buckle to a fidlock slider buckle just like the one you had in the video on my 1733 sidepack , but both sides are considered as the " tail " part, that means I can't do the upgrade with the fidlock buckle right?

how to do it with 40mm one?

Great upgrade. I might need to see if I can upgrade one of my bags with a fidlock as well. Thanks for the video

Bo! Thanks for the comment. Can never go wrong with some magnets. Really though, I think it's a pretty easy improvement for a lot of bags. What are you rocking these days?

Can you do that with all the fidlock buckles, take the pin out? this is so cool

Which Fidlocks did you use for the ATD1, and for the roll-top, were you still able to keep the M-F configuration so that you could still buckle the ends together (vs having to strap down on each side)? Thanks, and super informative!

Was wondering the same… as my ATD1 has buckles. Would love to have fidlocks there instead.

I did this but ended up taking them off my Dragon - I didn't like the little piece that stayed on when the tail was rolled up.

I originally thought this too but I realized I used the trail out most often do eventually gave in.

@@jtinseoul7041 only other issue, I thought the fidlock was so tight on the strap it made adjustment harder.. but yeah its a cool feature and since its not destructive you can go back and forth as desired.

@@jtinseoul7041 I love magnetic latches and snaps. I hate Velcro for openings because in my life, I spend a lot of time grabbing stuff from my pack at church. Especially when my kids were little and everything had Velcro, even LandsEnd diaper bags and you need something desperately so you’re sitting there debating between crying baby or ripping of Velcro during a sermon. Honestly, to me crying baby is more natural and normal than Velcro ripping but if Velcro ripping makes baby quiet then everyone is happy. But those years have been over a long time. Once I was at a funeral and realized I didn’t get my Kleenex it before it started so I’m trying to gently tear, string by string the Velcro opening of my L.L. Bean bag that has a perfect pocket from Kleenex (with the exception of the Velcro) to get to my Kleenex, all the while snot tears were piling up on my face and I was real close to reverting to five years old and just using my sleeve. I finally just ripped it and vowed never again. I now have a purse that I have dedicated to funerals….no Velcro on it. I decided then that bag manufacturers need an everyday woman’s opinion on such things. I have noticed Velcro going away on good quality bags. When I recently purged my collection, the existence of Velcro on a bag was a factor that led it to the Salvation Army box. I also TOTALLY agree about just using your bag! I have never in my life purchased a bag for myself with the intention of ever selling it. I’ve sold a few old purses or diaper bags at yard sales…of course I am fairly new to the high quality bag game. I’ve never paid over $100 for a bag before…yet… Part of it for me is that I’m not really in that income bracket and so when I buy a bag I either bought it for $4-10 at a thrift store or I have poured over prices, features, uses, explanations to my husband etc. I ask questions like, do I already own a bag that does this same thing and is this same size. Take a messenger bag, a woman could use one in each size. We don’t have just one type of shoes and to me bags are the same way. I have different dog concealment bags for different places I conceal him and different weather conditions. I’m so off point now. Anywho, I use the crap out of my bags! I change daily and sometimes without even leaving the house. I might dump things into a utility bag to take work to the back porch, or pile a blanket and things into a pack and go to the creek. The bag that holds my sewing supplies and fabric is over 20 years old and just a cheap beach town souvenir tote bag. If it gets dirty, I clean it, if it has a mark I consider it character. I use it till it looks like something a hobo would carry on a stick or it literally won’t hold things anymore. I personalize them and mod them. Whatever is fun. So the idea of “Catch & Release” was a bit foreign to me, although I’d totally do it if there was a deal to be had on something I might want and then let it go if it just didn’t work for me. I’ve just never owned bags worth selling anywhere but a yard sale. 😂

"20 bucks max".... A pair will be 30~40, half of a mid-decent bag price.
