Thank you for this video. I would recommend using a different approach today doesn't require to wait for the 5 minutes republishing to take effect. Instead of doing publish to web, it's possible to share the file and set "anyone with the link" as viewer. Then replace the end of the URL link to be "export?format=xlsx". This causes excel to read the Sheets file , regardless of publishing to the web. Then any refresh of the query in Excel, will bring the most up to date data.

Thank you for this --- very helpful. One question - can you add a notes column only to the excel file and will any notes you add stay with their respective rows once you refresh? I like using google forms to collect data, but I would prefer the data to go directly to Excel where the formatting is easier. I do not want to use a product like Zapier, have to add coding, or depend on manually downloading anything. So I'm hopeful I will be able to add information in both google forms and Excel, and have the google sheets just sit there in the background to shuttle info over to Excel.

Thank you for the great video and simple explanation. I have a concern though, if I close the excel/csv file that is linked to the Google Sheet, it loses the connection. Is there a way to keep the connection even after closing the excel/csv. I would like to sync the data from GS to csv and link the csv to QGIS as a joined table to shapefiles.
