This resonates a lot with me. Since I procrastinated a lot during the semester,, now I'm strugglung to learn my syllabus. Even when I somehow sit to study there's the constant thought of not being able to finish everything how well I could've had I started early. Then it's a self repeating cycle of bad thoughts and outcoke I'm desperate here since it seems like I'm putting more effort in distracting myself than in making myself sit and start studying. I'm in vet school now and giving my finals. but I'm finding it terribly hard to focus now. Everything was fine in freshman yr before the 1&1/2 yr long break due to covid. I used to be in the top 3% in class but now after coming back to campus last yr(got avg scores with last minute studying in last yr's finals), it's ljke some part of my brain has stopped functioning. Can't focus at all even after knowing I might even fail my exams if I don't study now. I've no problem concentrating in class though. But since I'm from a place with no access to public study areas or library facilities after school hours, I'm confined to my hostel room for the rest of the day which is where I lose every ounce of my self discipline and wasted hours on end. Since you seem to have gone through somewhat of a similar situation, what'd be your suggestion to someone going through my situation? Any tips on how I can get out of this year and a half long rut?

I am completely burnt out…. I had my half yearly’s in September-october and trust me I didn’t sleep straight up for 24 hours and kept studying to score 80/80 (p.s I scored 78) also in between that I had to write two essays for competition. Aftermath, I again had to do few extracurriculars to keep track of my CV. Also, I am in between an independent research and an organisation startup to familiarise chemistry and english. Now when I did yearly reflection, I was not feeling myself even after doing too much. That’s because I never had time for myself. I forgot journaling, reading, exercising and even sleeping. To get into my dream university abroad, I am stressing myself out too much. Please just take care of yourself and atleast dedicate 1 hr to ur passion. Love ya ✨

I am basically so lucky to find you despite of all the drawbacks in my life. Most of the channels and websites (basically all except yours) have the same tips. I at the end find myself unable to follow cuz i know they aren't for me. I even took up toxic motivation but it continued to motivate me only for a short duration and i realized that since it's for people who are not frequent to being called disgrace and scolded and i infact by being regular to it got my own self in the frequent to it only by past videos. I used to think before that your channel would be just like others because the thumbnail made me feel so but FR god sent me a angel so i don't go the wrong way in my life. I'm more thankful to you than anything. Thank you so much for being a lifesaver. Best of luck on your life. Based on the video, if your confused by “important” and “urgent” , you can read this comment for some information, but I am also confused by something too. “Important” is stuff that might be a huge deal, like doing a online quiz that counts towards 50% of your grade, but “urgent” is stuff that needs to be done quickly in a short amount of time. So, as Faye said that Quadrant 1 is important and urgent, like a presentation that will come in 3 days and counts 90% of your final grade. Quadrant 2 is important but not urgent, like making a drawing for art but it’s due 3 months later. Quadrant 3 is not important but urgent, like replying to emails that are from your teachers, but it’s not really important. Quadrant 4 is just distractions. Everything I have wrote so far, might not be correct so correct me if I am wrong.

Greetings from an alumni at UniMelb! I wish I had such advice/study tip info when I was there over a decade ago. I mostly had to trial and error my personal, health issues and study time and guilt-tripped myself too much if I didn't perform well. I also didn't dare to talk to people abouy my problems or accept them as a part of me. Only after going into the workforce for several years did I realize I'm actually more productive at night when it's more peaceful and free of disturbances. I'm actually transitioning careers and have gone back to study and since it's been such a long time I'm astouded and overwhelmed by the productivity/routine resources available now. I like that you strive to create a balance and giving variations that suit different routines. Seriously kudos to you for providing this safe space and advice. It's not easy to be a vlogger either. Wish you all the best for the remainder of your studies and enjoy your Melbourne experience!

I am the type of person who has perfectionist tendencies and likes to readjust my notes or work until I felt it was perfect but when I realized how much time I wasted just to perfectionist, the motivation would suddenly go away. Even when studying, I require myself to understand the subject rather than memorise it so I easily get bored whenever I try which later leads to procrastination. I love to watch your videos constantly that relate to my situations as they motivate me to my studies. Thank you so much. Thank you, Faye for your constant motivation! The topics of your videos are things all students can relate to everyday and you explain how to overcome each thing! I just watched this video and when you were talking about perfectionism (I would love it if you would do a video on that!) I realised something: So basically I've been working on this project for school since mid- December and it's due tomorrow. I was done with it before the new year but I submitted it right now about an hour ago because I wanted it to be "perfect", I wanted it to have no mistakes so I submitted the project today although I could've done it ages ago. So being perfect is important to me and can often be a pretty annoying thing because if you want to be perfect you'll probably go through everything a million times. Wishing everyone lots of good luck and happiness in 2023:)

I am most excited about being in my last year of uni. I am holding onto the graduation ceremony and visualising myself walking across the stage. I understand learning is a lifelong process but happy to have some kind of qualification ticked off in my life.

Thank you a lot Faye for all that you did ! I am really grateful that almost a year ago I bumped on your channel because I learned so many tips thanks to you. I actually really needed this video right now. Since I started high school this year I feel stressed and kinda of burnout because of all the homework and stuff we have to get done. I actually, since secondary school always get my homework done on the last minute that was, which made me sometimes sleep really late ( I mean one day before the exam, I didn't sleep at all only to prepare for it ). I thought this year I'm going to do as always but, now I understand that it's really bad decision since that made me sleep less, constantly stressing, having anxiety, not wanting to study and I usually cry to evacuate all this stress. The problem is that nobody actually told me how to study properly ( I know it's dumb but, really nobody ever taught us how to do it PROPERLY so you can understand and remember for a long time) The second problem is that I'm a that type of person who just can't get organized, plus as I got used to my bad habit it's soooo difficult to change it. I also have this constant stress of forgetting my lessons if I review them like days before the test. So yeah I'm pretty much stuck in this situation but, I am going to try to firstly complet my urgent and important tasks to than, do everything before it becomes urgent. Hope it works and I will have the strength to do it. P. S: Sorry for this long comment but, I really needed to at least write all these things to feel better and it doesn't matter if nobody read it.

Not gonna lie, being in 3rd year Mechanical Engineering really drains me a lot. I never thought that I need any kind of planning because before this, I got everything handed by school (pre-univerisity) and life was great in general. Now, I burnout almost on the daily basis but somehow still surviving. Thank you for this video, Faye. It gives me directions to not hate myself anymore.
