Yes, there are people who are extremely toxic and create drama because they love it and they are narcissistic! It’s crazy that they love controlling so much ! I talk about these issues in my channel but I never talked about how to avoid those dramatic people! You did a great job explaining how to avoid drama ! Recovery from drama is sooo tough but it’s possible. Loving your tips

My drama person is my aunt. She constantly nitpicks me. "Your eyes are too close together." (As if I can help that at all) "I don't like long hair on women." (So, you're not wearing it. I actually shaved my head back in March to raise money for blood cancer so its really short at the moment) "You wear too much black". (I don't feel the need to own a lot of clothes so I have a lot of black because it goes with everything. I have a lot of colourful shirts) and my personal favorite "Why don't you go and milk a cow?" (Find me a cow and I'll milk it. My aunt and mother were raised on a farm so milking cows was a daily chore. I have never lived on a farm so milking cows obviously was never a thing for me. I had my chores, but cows never came ito it. There are a heap of other things as well. Of course she also loves to tell my mother what a horrible job she did in raising me. Oh did I mention that my aunt has no children of her own and my mother is a single parent with 4 children. I did try and go see her when ever my brother who has a car did, which was every couple of months. But that wasn't good enough. So I've just cut her off. She now refures to me as 'her'.

That’s why I don’t go to family gatherings even on the holidays because I have a sibling who’s prone to stir up drama and I would rather stay away than to deal with the drama.
@roseb89834 жыл бұрын
Thanks for making this! I haven't commented in a while but I have a lot to say about this particular topic. Last year I had a friend who would always stir up drama. We'd been friends for years and it gradually got worse over time, so it took me a while to realize that they were creating a problem. Anytime they said something that caused conflict I would try to sympathize by reminding myself of their difficult home life and mental health issues. I finally realized that, while it was important to acknowledge their situation, they made mine worse and it didn't excuse all of their actions. I ended up explaining the problem to this friend and we don't talk to eachother anymore. (They didn't accept that they were in the wrong or apologize, and they played the victim) Now my life is very drama-free. I only wish I could've realized this earlier because they really took a toll on my mentality with all of the conflicts and drama they caused. Thank you for reminding me why I didn't want a person like this in my life anymore. I was just thinking about this the other day and I felt really bad for dropping this friend.

Yes! Self preservation is key. If the interactions are consistently leaving you feeling drained or upset, the drama simply isn't worth it. I'm glad you have been able to avoid the people who had caused you drama in the past! Thanks for saying hello!!!

this is why I try to not talk to anybody, if at most I’ll say “hi & bye” that’s about it from me.. I don’t go into anyones lives and you can’t argue with anyone as you said. I try at the ultmost even stay home, less communication from others I’m around, the better. I keep it short and sweet. Sometimes though especially internet now a days, you just can’t block it all out. It’s hard.

It’s difficult for me because I want to be there for my sisters in order to give them an outlet / support. But it’s just tons of drama between them and fighting and taking shots at each other and then refusing to take any direction or do any work to overcome their unhealthy patterns (like getting help/ doing the work) I’ve started to just say “I’m game if you want to try to seek healthy solutions! This is such good advice! I am a sponge sometimes, hahaha. I've gotten better at not being as big of a sponge as I used to be, but it's my default mode. As you said, a lot of times people have no idea about what's happening. If they're that emotional, it can be hard or nearly impossible for them to realize what they're doing in the moment. Thank you for the great advice, Nena! Diffusing the situation, making the other person feel humanly valued (that's what I do), and then giving space really does a lot of good for everyone. Some people have been super scarred from various experiences throughout life, and that can grab hold of them and change them into toxic people without them realizing it. These tips of yours can help heal the world one person at a time :-)

I have a very important question pls if I may, let's say someone at work can try to stir up a conversation about something they dont agree with, to try and get you to respond just so that person wont feel negative alone, how do I ignore that entirely? Like what will help me to avoid that thing where someone gets very upset about one thing but wants me to chime in, knowing it's nothing I personally would be mad at myself? Pls give me a great answer to help me out, I'm tired of stressing over other ppls negativity
@NenaLavonne2 жыл бұрын
Hi Zachory! Great question - when people ask me to comment about something I prefer to avoid, I usually try to lightly joke that I "don't like to get involved in discussing these types of issues" and laugh after so they know I am not trying to be critical. You can also say something like "I'm sorry you are going through this" or something very general like "there's always something!" depending on the situation. You never have to offer your opinion or get emotionally invested. The more times you answer in these vague ways, the less people will try to engage you in these types of conversations. I hope that helps :)
@Swamp_Thing_44872 жыл бұрын
That really helps me out! I usually say things like " that's how it goes or that's life I guess" bit always try to avoid it all. It's like when someone very annoying tries to call you over and over and the more you ignore it, it will eventually stop so I see how that can relate! You helped my day out!
