Thank you SOOO MUCH for addressing this and providing helpful suggestions! It is, unfortunately, an extremely *FRUSTRATING* situation!!! Due to my crazy cycling accident that left me disabled, I’ve vowed to spend my 2nd chance at life helping others…but…uhhh, reflections in my crazy, huge prism glasses are a bit “distracting.” 🤷♀️ I’m am sooo thankful that I found you - just a few days ago - and your helpful suggestions on how to share stories! Thanks! And cheers!!!

That’s incredible! Way to turn an accident into a gift you share with others! 💯 Reflections in our glasses can be very frustrating to deal with but thankfully it’s solvable. 😊

I was going to recommend zenni, then I kept watching. Can’t recommend them enough! I love my blue blockers from them with my prescription.

That's awesome! Glad to know someone else had a good experience as well! I've ordered glasses from other sites and the glasses look goofy in real life so I was hesitant but Zenni worked out perfectly! I also got the blue light reduction coating as well!

Loving your work. As a glasses user, I have a constant battle with providing enough light without shadows but also trying to remove the reflection. I have a ring light that is 18 inches above my head at the front aiming downwards at 45 degrees. I also have 2 side fill lights set fairly low intensity and at 4600K. I have followed your Channel since you offered a complete set up for a Sony a6400. Thank you for all your hard work in creating these videos. Peter.
@DianaGladney3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Peter! Appreciate you! For making sure I get proper lighting and also avoiding the rings from the rim of the glasses showing harshly, I make sure I have softbox lighting to diffuse and soften the light. That way you are seen normally. Lights without diffusion can cause harsh shadows on the face, even without wearing glasses. I'd definitely say consider diffusing your lights and that should help.
@papawgotagopro3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for informing me! I had no idea I could get an anti reflective coating on my lenses. It’s time for a new pair anyway. I just built a big diffuser out of a shower curtain liner. The lighting effect is fantastic but there’s basically no way to eliminate the reflection off my lenses. Also, you’ve got a great easy delivery, easy to learn from you. So I’m a new subscriber. Jeff (Papaw)

Always a pleasure Pawpaw 😊 Yeah, without an antireflective coating you’re constantly fighting reflections to some extent. If you’re getting new specs it’s definitely worth adding on that extra coating. And of course, Welcome to the Community! 😊

lol Thanks much. I wear old army glasses from the VA. We call em "Buddy Holly Birth Control Glasses" ie you're not getting any if you're wearing these. lol However, I love the frames so I'm gonna keep this style and see if I can get the anti-reflective coating. Think I'm gonna get a pair with dark green tint too for sunny days.Starting to et set up for trying a hand at vlogging and setting up some lights & stuff so we'll see how it goes. Thanks again. Still binge watching your videos.

Yup, this is now a thing I deal with when live-streaming as squinting into the teleprompter is somewhat frowned upon, I believe? 😆 Moving lights up and also just being aware and trying not to tilt my chin up too much has helped, but now I’m going to check into anti-reflective coating livestream glasses!
@DianaGladney3 жыл бұрын
Ah they gotcha with the teleprompter eh? lol I have never used one and just honestly always preferred to go without one. The anti-reflective coating has been a life saver. I entered my same prescription info and they are just like my original frames. I am definitely getting a second pair as a backup!
@FHumpires3 жыл бұрын
@@DianaGladney I love my teleprompter, you’d have to pry it out of my 🥶💀 🙌🏼 😆. I’ll check that link for you but moose glasses might be better for me (a company with a Canadian base). Great info as always!

I have two pairs of glasses that I use for my videos. I ended up going to Costco and having them pop the lens out in the one pair. I use those frames for most of my videos and live streams. I need to take off my glasses to read comments if I have the lenses in. Now I don't have to do that. I only need my glasses for seeing things far away. Since I'm only looking at a camera or monitor that's close I don't need lenses in. :)
@JohnPullum3 жыл бұрын
Being able to see the screen without taking my glasses off was more of my reason for taking out the lenses than the glare.
@DianaGladney3 жыл бұрын
Ahh gotcha! Well glad Costco was able to help resolve that for you. I wear my glasses all the time so I had to get another pair for daily use.

I was just thinking about getting new glasses this morning. I do have the antireflective coating and wondered if I could get a blue light filter as well. I have a pair of Zennis and it's insane how low cost they are.

Yep, you can get both. I have both on these pairs that I wear and they’re awesome!

Hello Diana! Does polarizing filters have any positive effect on removing reflections? Besides turning the sky a dark blue, they can also reduce or remove reflections. Have you tried this?
@FreeEnergyNerd2 жыл бұрын
Well i have allready been following all your advice, but i still have the problem. I work for a radiostation, and we come in sometimes on air via zoom, doing comments, reports etc... (filmed radio they call it) of course my glasses are anti reflection, but I do have a 32 inch monitor.. and the webcam mounted just above. So i can read my text like 1cm beneath the webcam and its like having an autocue. reading and looking into the camera. The 32 inch screen gives lots of light (even with darker background) an i cannot tilt the monitor sideways, because it just doesn't to that, its a 4k samsung space monitor. S3275xUE. So you can see the monitor in my glasses...If I would put lots of light sideways do you think it would give better results? I dont want to buy extra projectors if it doesnt change anything. (Others at our station just take the glasses off, but i cant.. cant read without them. and i keep the "word" window small so you dont see my eyes following the text.) Any ideas? Thanks Luc btw your german translations are very good. specially in the description.
@DianaGladney2 жыл бұрын
Hi there Luc! I’m so glad the German translations bare accurate. We definitely are always working on that! Sorry to hear the alternative methods for the glare isn’t working so well for you. At some point, if you are within a certain distance to something, there still will be some reflection due to the nature of the glass elements. It’s not 100% glare proof but leveraging the tips help to further minimize glare. I can’t afford to just remove my glasses either and contacts isn’t an option because I don’t like them, so I understand. You can see what dark mode text or prompt screens may be an option and perhaps increasing the font size to compensate for the additional distance if possible. If not, I’m not sure what else could be done.
@FreeEnergyNerd2 жыл бұрын
@@DianaGladney Thanks for your reply, the problem is that the 32 inch is sooo big ist glowing everywhere. I still have an option i will test during the WE. put a blanket over the screen, just leaving out the small window for the text. and putting the camera right on the right hand side of the screen so that i am not at 90 degrees. its a pain having to that for 2 minutes on air. Keep up the good work.. if I may give you an advice for the translations. As lots of people do NOT know how to turn on the subtitles i think it would be a good idea to leave them a note in the description, telling them in their language, specially made for them and not the "auto translate by yt that is not always very good. So tell them: 1. the video is going to be in english 2. there are subtitles in your language. click on the CC or settings etc...to switch them on. But above all, keep up your excellent work. It helps a lot. Luc

I'm trying to record videos in my room that has an overhead ceiling light. No matter where I sit, no matter what angle I sit at, even the slightest move of my head causes noticeable glare. I've watched tips on KZbin by many, and none of the tips are useful because I can't remove that light. I'm at wit's end cause I cant even start making videos!
@DianaGladney3 жыл бұрын
Turn off the overhead ceiling light, use LED light panels with diffusion pop-up softbox lights and light from the side at 45 degree angles on both sides. It’s also wise to get a pair of glasses for when you’re recording like I did that have the anti-glare coating. If your current glasses don’t have them, use side lighting and omit the ceiling light.
