CS skins in the scammer's currency would be worth a lot more compared to someone in a better country. For example, the cost of living in Russia is much less than in the US. So even one decent knife could be a month's worth of work for them.

I’ve also seen KZbin livestreams that impersonate famous CS2 players like Simple and Donk. Those are hacked KZbin accounts and they clickbait with „Biggest Giveaway“ or something like this. The livestreams also has thousands of viewers. Those are obviously bots and not real. In the livestream they show a QR code to scan. If you do it, you’ll get scammed

I got hacked via the API scam around Christmas 2021 for skins and cases cumulatively worth several thousands of dollars. Common sense really went out of the window when it happend because I was panicking, as something like that never happened to me before, which is exactly what the scammer is banking on unfortunately. Years later, that shit still hurts to think about.

Always log in to steam in a separate tab!! Then reload whatever other site youre logging in to. If the site is legitimately redirecting to steam it will log you straight in.

can I add one more thing, if you're going away on vacation make sure to put ALL your skins in a storage unit, that way scammers wont target you because they cant see what skins you have!! and its a lot harder for them to trade them since they would have to open cs on your account and withdraw them from the unit

#3 scam is actually pretty scary. I lost my items to "social engineering" scam, It was really stupid of me and the guy was pretty "strategic" with his words. If you belief you will never fall into social engineering scam scheme as I did, you WILL 99% fall into that. Be careful guys.

When using the steam login button, never log in with your credentials. Always log in on the steam website first, and then use the login button without having to log in again. If it still asks for your credentials then it's a scam.

someone tried to do the same thing to me. i made a fake account then logged in and couldn't but i was certain that it was nothing but a scam. they literally get your login id by doing so. so if anyone tells you to sign in to some sketchy website to play tournament or buying skins pls dont do that. it is lot better to block and report that individual.

A common one I've had experience with for the social engineering is people adding and asking to play on faceit. They say you need to link a game to your profile and they can't add you as a friend so send a link to add them instead. The link is fake (of course) then I question why they are a big scummy wummy and why they try to scam people, then I get blocked 😅

Im shocked how stupid Valve is and that they still didnt implemented some sort of lock system for skins... for ex. You can lock Your skins behind a 6-digit code straight up in CS2 or if You want to borrow skins You can set a time limit that the person will see before accepting the trade.

IEM Katowice - i watched the stream on KZbin and there appeared that qr code in the left corner. I did not realize that its actually not the official stream but a scammer stream. More than 20k viewers live. Happily my mind was faster than the hacker had been and i was able to update my whole security. Imagine they copied the IEM website 1:1. For now i never laugh about phising again

My friend lost a knife because of a smart scammer. They wanted to do some kind of a trade on a website that was legit. He needed to deposit the knife into the website so he was waiting for trade offer from the site but before that the scammer sent the exact same trade so he accidentally sent the skin to the scammer instead of the website so be careful guys.

I will put one more tip, always be on „Family” mode. In this method when scamer steal your acc have problem cuz he need put special code to close this mode, in this case you have time to contact with steam support.
