How to BACKSIDE SNAP Surfing // Pro Tips with Lakey Peterson

Checkpoints that work for me that I wish someone told me - back foot aallll the way back on tail pad; when opening shoulders off the bottom, the inside shoulder should dip lower. This ensures you're driving on rail with board tilted towards wave (more control). Level shoulders make it more unstable and off the fins instead of rails. Whatever the wave is doing think get back down or onto wave energy. Essentially the bottom turn throws you up the face and you need to get back onto wave by turning down or carving around if it's not a pitching section. Then watch Lakey for further inspiration by any other distilled surf brilliance or just how to workout and move right.

❤ this was another excellent surf tutorial by you both. the only addition i have, if i may, is sometimes, often times, its fun to do a backside snap at the end of the wave ride, often with two merging waves of different directions, or a simply closeout section. during such instances, i think its cool after the snap, when in the post snap phase, probably in front of white water section out in the 'flats', i like to hold my hands in a karate chop style shape (totally flat, fingers together, thumb slightly separate, with the front foot arm slightly forward and the backside arm a slight distance behind it, both arms bent at about 105 to 115 degrees, with knees slightly bent, approximately 60 to 80 degrees, and basically give a good solid footed upwards of 10 or so little, but noticeable, bounces at the bent knees, to display to everyone, and to myself, how sure footed and quick responsive and actually ready for more maneuvers i would be if the wave had not ended so soon :) it helps people watching from the beach be able to identify who is an experienced expert, and who is still learning :)
