Can I just use a Scandisk flash drive to backup the entire unit without using a computer? Then take that flash drive and import that backup into my other SPD Sx??

Select + power to turn on. This problem with these is annoying. Don't know how long this fix keeps working but it does work.

Hi, thanks for this video. Can we save the entire Roland SPD-SX directly on a USB key (without using a laptop)? Samples, patches, midi rooting (...) will they be all saved on the USB key ?

Yes you can! It will all be saved, I regularly do so when switching between different SPD-SXs

Exactly that - 32GB seems to be the limit. In the video I use an 8GB one formatted to ExFat. Haven’t had many issues so far!

This is great, thanks! - Is there an order that I need to plug/unplug the Flash Drive? Before or after I turn on the power of the SPD-SX? I want to make sure that I’m ejecting it properly. - Does the SPD-SX need to be set to wave manager in order to do this? Is that relevant? - when I back-up all my settings, does it copy exactly how I have all my kits setup in my wave manager program on my laptop? So I will be able to delete the factory kits on my laptop and just use my own samples starting at kit #1? Sorry so many questions. Thanks again!

Thanks for the questions, I'm here to help where I can! - I ejected the Flash Drive after the SPD-SX turned on and had no issues at all. So I'd aim for that! - Fortunately, no! You don't need to set the SPD-SX to Wave Manager or anything like that. Good question! - Yes, as the Wave Manager programme is loading the information from the SPD-SX. So however you've set the SPD-SX is projected onto the Wave Manager. I hope this helps!

@@DrumElectric thanks so much! I also just got a Roland RT-30HR recently. I’ve been having some issues with it though. I have the threshold set to 0, and I have the foam sensor really tight against the drum (I also tried loose) but I still can’t get it to pick up the ghost notes that I’m doing. Is there some kind of setting that I can change when I go to setup->Pad Sensitivity->Detail? Should I be switching from Linear to something else? I haven’t had any issues at all with false triggering, so I’m just trying to make it as sensitive as possible. It picks up everything when I play right next to the RT-30HR on the drum head, but once I play ghost notes in the middle of the drum it doesn’t pick up those ghost notes. I have my snare tuned pretty low, so that might be the cause of the problem. Ideally I wouldn’t want to change the tuning of my snare to compensate for the drum trigger not picking up the ghost notes though… thanks for all of your help

same thing happened with mine, whenever it doesn't turn on i just hit the top middle pad at the same time i power it up and it works every time, lol

How did you back it up? If you backup using the Wave Manager, you have to use the Wave Manager to load it. If you use a USB stick, you have to use the USB stick to load it

Something weird I noticed on my Spdsx is that if you have a cord plugged into the headphone jack and the spdsx won't come on... lightly lift up the cord in the jack as you are turning it on and it powers on.

I have a similar thing with mine! If I have anything plugged into the USB, it won’t turn on. Unplug it, turns on fine… SUPER weird!

That’s interesting, and not something I’ve experienced! If you’ve been advised to reset it, that would be my first call. Make sure you’ve got access to any samples you’ve used on the kit so you can restore it though! Your best option is to get in touch with the Roland support team just to be sure

Only to import samples with, I don’t think you can use it as extra memory sadly!
