I get over the pain of basting my quilts by trying lots of different basting techniques - this is the latest. I bought a Microstitch Gun Kit and I’ve been using its o baste my last few quilts with good success. It still has it’s pros and cons which I go through in the video though.
The review tutorial shows you how to use the Microstich Gun to baste a full quilt, and how to remove the tags as you quilt.

I use spray glue, but the bedsheet method of Jordan fabrics also works great. In one if their movies they finish a trip around the world that way.

@@Stoffmonster467 hand quilting takes so much patience - well done you! What is the difficulty with the machine? Wrestling the quilt through or some thing else?

@@ScrapFabricLove I have a really expensive machine, but even with a walking foot the layers "walk away". I had to unravel one and have to do a second one 😬

I just got my kit and basting was super easy. I saw a comment about using a tennis racket to slide underneath and it worked like a charm! Love this system.

I keep a marble with my basting gun because the owner of a quilt shop showed me that if you put a marble underneath the back of your fabric layers, it holds your fabric just a little bit up off the surface of the table or the floor and allows the needle to go through more effectively. You can just roll the marble to each spot you want to paste.

Great info. I've never heard of the basting gun! I love that you list the pros n cons. Its great you are concerned about plastics and eco friendliness in so many ways.🥰💜❤💜

Glad you found it useful. But yes definitely not the top of the eco friendly charts this one…better than chemical spray basting? Not sure to be honest… still plenty other methods to try! We’ll find the perfect method one day…🤞🏻

I have two of these tagging guns, first one jammed after 6 tags and I bought a different brand like yours the second time. I have the rigged raised open hole grid companion also, it slides under the quilt and raises quilt off the surface for tagging. You tag into the open spaces and slide it along as you go. I haven’t seen them in a decade, but may still be able to hunt one down using google.

I want to pin roll my pants and thought about using a micro stitch gun to hold it in place for the day. Could it go through layers of rolled denim?
@ScrapFabricLove
@ScrapFabricLove Жыл бұрын
I have used it on a denim quilt before. So it went through one layer of denim, one layer of batting and one layer of cotton quilt backing. I’ve never hemmed pants with it though so not sure about your specific use case.
