I really appreciated watching this video. Lots of good tips. I do have one to add for those who are averse to using paper towels (as I am). I purchased on Amazon flour sack tea towels, which are super absorbent and washable! I cut them to fit my containers and use them at the bottom and the top to absorb moisture. They work really well. Hope that helps someone out there!

Love this process, I do the same for myself ( hubby won’t eat salad 😩) minus the tomatoes. I do wash my romaine with water/vinegar, spin in spinner, then laid out on towels to dry, the store with a half piece of paper towel.This has been done for years now. Thanks for sharing your process. 👍❤️😊

I make homemade made spaghetti sauce, a cut a mushrooms, peppers and onions and beets . You may want to shred them. Then I put my tomatoes sauce in food processor and blend it all. Well you can even add kale or spinach to then put it back on the pot and heat it up and add your favorite spices. The kids don’t know that they’re eating vegetables they love

Thanks for this video. I was looking for information on making salads in jars. Unfortunately, a lot of those videos are basically the same. So I did a search for salads made in advance and got this video. I’m glad you made your salads without bell peppers. I love red bell peppers but, when I made salad in a jar for a week the peppers didn’t hold up.

I've been batch-prepping my salads for years. I have a big Tupperware bowl (a real Tupperware bowl, I think it's called a "Mega Bowl") and it has a lid, which works so well! I love your video! I've learned so much! Especially about keeping everything dry and what not to add for lasting longer. Also, making sure everything is as fresh as possible. I learn so much from your videos, Tami. You're a real blessing!

I’m trying this this week. Just ordered knife and bowl. I just love chopped salad. Thought for prep is the baby cucumbers you see in the stores now. I’m going to get a bag of those and add whole in my container then salad will have cucumber without added prep. Thanks for the videos I’ve been enjoying catching up with you. I’m not a vegan but looking for healthier habits and this will help me get my veg everyday.

Thanks for the spontaneous video. I enjoy your videos. What is the size of the boxed spinach & kale? And what starches to you prep weekly? I love eating WFPB & SOS free but I struggle with meal planning. Prepping salads and starches for the week is a great idea, I wonder how you decided what else to make for the week. Do you make a breakfast, and second meal plan or just "wing it" for the other meals?
@NutmegNotebook

They are 1 pound containers.We batch prep starches as needed, potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, quinoa and oat groats. The grains we divide up and freeze in smaller containers so we can thaw them out as needed. See my videos on batch prepping! It’s such a time saver.

I haven't watched this particular video thru all the way yet, but in a previous video, Tami says she uses a 13 quart Tramontina Pro Line stainless steel bowl from Costco. She says this is the video titled Batch Prepping Chopped Salad and Holland Wood Bowl dated March 6, 2018. It's a shorter video at 26:14 and she demonstrates and describes the bowl in the first few minutes.

Tami, I noticed in this video you did not add apples or your mandarin oranges? Have you stopped adding that to your salads? Also, do you add other veggies to each salad on the day that you eat them, ie red pepper or cucumber or celery? Thank you again so much for this video!

I think I’m missing the second half of what you’re doing for these salads! After you do all this prep then you are doing additional prep each day that you have a salad for all the toppings? Or do you separately prepare a big bowl of fruit and veggies that you will use as a topping for the salads?

I am sorry it was confusing. I batch prep these salads and then each day I take it and turn it into a chopped salad and then I add starch, fruit and other yummy ingredients to make it into a satisfying meal. Like this one I made in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5WkYayplqd5bKM

Hi, New to your channel. Thank you for posting this thorough salad batch prep video! I'm wondering if you have any tips on making this for 1 person = 7 servings? I typically shop at Costco, Trader Joe's and Sprouts. I also have a Whole Foods nearby. I'm wondering how best to alter the quantities without compromising on the wide assortment of ingredients. Thank you!
@NutmegNotebook

Thank you, that is what I've done. I buy the large pack of Romaine from Costco. I use one head per Ziploc 9cup box and top with kale from Whole Foods, matchstick carrots, etc. I'm weighing them out to 12oz. Your batch prepped (chopped) salads are fantastic and such a great base for a variety of toppings and flavor profiles from sos free wfpb dressings. I've already lost 5 pounds towards my desired healthy goal weight in 2.5 weeks. From not the healthiest vegan to a fully wfpb sos free vegan feels so energizing!! Thank you Tami and Tom.

Do you wash the salad ingredients the (greens, slaw, cabbage, carrots) before you chop and eat it? Or do you wash everything before you prep and put in the zip lock containers?? Or do wash it right before when you put in the bowl and chop it??? Will appreciate your help and information so much. @NutmegNotebook

I make them when we run out and we start eating them then. The timing can vary. If we have company and I use a prepped salad to serve them I will run out sooner. Sometimes I’ll have salad fur 2 meals on the same day. If we eat out and don’t eat salads one day I’ll have extra. It’s not cut and dry exactly the same each week. When we are close to using up the last salads I make more.

Make a Mexican chopped salad -are my video- where you heat up the toppings and serve them over the chopped salad. Heat up a serving of chili or my Hearty Lentil Stew - see the video- snd serve it over a chopped salad. My husband warms up his salad in a glass bowl for a minute to take the chill off before adding hot toppings. Heat up rice beans and corn and top your salads with it. So good!
