Thank you for sharing your strategy, but please, when lifting the dog's legs to clean, lift them towards the front, never to the side so that you won't cause a breakage on her joints, muscle or bones, and do the move very gently so that the dog knows when to look for support on her other three legs avoiding feeling disoriented in regards while one of her legs is being lifted up (towards front, never towards side); blessings to you and your beloved. Boyfriend of a vet tech that's washing her chihuahua for her - they make an ointment for dogs eyes that can help protect the eyes from accidental shampoo exposure. Not exactly the best solution but something I didn't know about

Many dog shampoos are often made to not sting their eyes or at least be gentle but I’m still with you here. It happens that some water will get on my dogs face. It’s unavoidable. But I tend to wash only the top back portion of her head and then do the rest of her face area with dog cleaning wipes. When I do rinse her head after all of this (with just water), I hold the tip of her chin up in the air so that the water goes backwards instead of forwards. Hope this helps!

Excellent point re avoiding getting shampoo in their eyes. Personally if they are new to grooming I would not pour water over their face. Just clean their face with a dog face wipe.

My puppy is learning to bathe, I won’t make the same mistake I did with my older German shepherd in not bathing him as frequently as I should have. Now I have to go in butt naked with him to scrub his dirty self or he will hop tub and run. I am making sure I’m bathing them properly because I always felt I never did an okay job with them

I use a very wet washcloth to wet my dog’s face. It’s easier than trying to use a spray. I get a sponge (that kind that has tiny holes and looks like foam) and get a good lather going and use that to shampoo his face being careful around the eyes of course. The sponge method is easier than struggling with your fingers. Then I take the very wet washcloth to rinse off the lather.

Very disappointing video. I wanted to learn the proper way to wash a dog's face and not only does she not do so, she was TOO ROUGH. At 2:11 the way she pulls this poor dog's back leg out to rinse is AWFUL! You can really hurt a dog doing it like that by pulling a muscle, tendon, hip joint out of whack, even dislocating its kneecap. It's lazy! I am NOT a professional but even I could make a better video. Also, I disagree with washing a dog's butt and then coming back to rinse face. There are germs back there that you don't want to spread on its face! Do you wash your own butt and then touch your face??? I wash everything except the tail and butt, then rinse, then I wash the tail and butt and rinse. Groomers are not licensed. Anyone can call themselves one, and it doesn't mean they're good or worthy of a pet parent's trust.
