Your posting as an additional Chief Officer is worthwhile as you would be getting all the guidance required from the existing Chief Officer. It'll be a totally new ball game for you, cargo handling being the biggest responsibility and the next would be tank cleaning. I having served on 'Framo' ships am aware as to how cluttered the main deck is with the abundance of pipelines and longitudnals. Tankers with a smooth main deck is a lot more comfortable given my services on Suezmax, Aframax and even handy size tankers. I personally preferred the tankers with a Pump Room. But I guess you having served on chemical tankers for long have accepted the design features. Sunrises and sunsets will be a common sight for you in fair weather and it will always be a pleasure. So, all the best for your new post in the offing and welcome to the domain of ullages, topping up and stripping tanks, wall wash tests, ASTM tables, ballast tank inspections, interactions with cargo surveyors, preparing requisitions for consumables, paints, winch brake tests, anchor stations (to name some) and also a big hike in paperwork 😊.

Hi sir! Much much appreciated! I couldn’t agree that clear deck tankers are definitely better! Ive worked on one of them as a cadet! Ofcourse framo is a system that i have been bought up with! So its engraved in my system pretty much, on the other hand u probably have a ton of knowledge when it comes to pumproom ships! I have sailed on a ship with a cop pumproom based system, but that was at the beginning of my career again! Ofcourse the sunrise and sunsets are gorgeous, im sure u have seen quite some during ur tenure at sea! Im starting to enjoy them after a while now that things have changed for me work wise! As always I appreciate you being a part of my creative journey! Also! Sorry for the late response! Its been quite a roller coaster on this side! Stay safe!
