@@zachhaywood1564 Kraftwerk is a german group, and the "the joke about" is an almost literal translation of the german phrase "der Witz bei Kraftwerk ist". However, "Witz" has two meanings. One is "joke", the other is "cunning" (which is no longer commonly in use). In the context of Marius' comment, it means somethings like "The fun fact about Kraftwerk was [..]".
@gerdpfeil3 жыл бұрын
Except that's a generalization and not true: What didn't exist and had to be built was an electronic drum kit that could be played live. The electronic magazines of the time were full of circuit diagrams for simple drum sound generators and they had to make something like that. For everything else their initial difficulty was more in obtaining the scarce and expensive instruments. Their works also document the evolution of their equipment from electronically processed natural instruments to increasingly complex synthesizers.

1st Vinyl 12" I bought [from Woolies in UK] was TD's Rubycon - in about 1975! A year later punk exploded here but like you I had to keep my passion for the electronic to myself most of the time especially as I was in a punk band. I tried to introduce self made oscillators into some of the tracks and was totally slagged off! You can then imagine how utterly brilliant it was when Gary Numan hit the screens on TOTP with Are Friends Electric in 79 and I'm like 'told you so...'
