Oh my, I'm so happy to learn that you were one of the producers on Russ Parr morning show. I'm from Kampala, Uganda and I used to host 2 shows in the afternoon which would start at the same time Russ Parr would start. My co-host and I on the drive time would listen and pick up a lot from the show. Also fell in love with Jane Dough who was on after Russ Parr. We really enjoyed the morning show, even started doing our own ghetto horoscopes which became really popular. Thank you for all the work you did. That show taught me a lot since I was new on radio and honestly needed to listen to a lot of experts in the game. Been doing radio for 6 years now and these tips are still very helpful! Thank you. ❤❤❤❤❤

Hey Britt! Thanks so much for doing this video. It's truly inspiring. I always wanted to be a Journalist, but chose a B.A. in Criminal Justice. Wish I had followed my heart. However, I am now Co-hosting an independent Radio/TV talk show called "We Talk Weekly" on a public radio station in Philly. (Thanks for wearing that Sixers hoodie btw lol). I've been co-hosting the show for a little over 2 years now. The show is doing really well, but I'm looking to get more experience and move to commercial radio. We have a We Talk Weekly KZbin channel and podcast on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcast, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, and Spreaker. I will definitely take your advice to help me move up in the industry. Thank you again for this video!

Thank you for sharing this, I don't have a background in journalism but I know that this is what I've been called to do. I recently started my own talk show and I've been finding opportunities within my community. However, I'm now ready to apply for a "real" position and I'm struggling with creating a resume. My entire resume is HR. I'm hopeful however. Thanks again!
@ItsBrittWaters

Carter Sade' I’m so glad you found this helpful. Don’t hesitate to apply or reach out to directors for feedback. Working in HR is great you deal with so many people but add your broadcasting experience too. Include that you started your own show. Show the analytics and engagement on it if it’s significant and always include a clip or aircheck of your best show highlights. I think a good reel, aircheck or link is much more powerful than a resume. Best of luck you look fabulous.

I had the opportunity to be a mix show DJ on a local hip hop station, it lasted about 6 - 8 months but they never compensated me and I was the # 1 DJ on the station. But that experience and opportunity got me wanting to start my own radio station and recording studio up and going. However, I don't know how I should go about getting others on board with me and be able to pay them for their time. Any suggestions?

@ItsBrittWaters
@ItsBrittWaters 5 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you found this helpful. For sure seek out opportunities. Internships would usually be on their company website for volunteering I'd ask employees or some of the on air talent they are usually at the station events and remotes. You can also reach out on social media.

Here's a tip, Britt: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWWne3RjgMyVoZYsi=BWfDeG-Rt3a7IV7l&t=747 : a good presenter on any broadcast medium; radio, TV, KZbin, talks to one person. You act as though you have an audience of only 1 person. Because for almost every person listening or viewing, you do! So, as my old station manager used to tell the newbies: talk as though you are chatting to a close friend you haven't seen for a few years: it makes your presentation personal and intimate without being 'familiar'. English gives us the benefit of 'you' being both singular and plural. But to say 'hello everyone' is just sophomoric and unprofessional.
