I realize to be most authentic for me is to go live and tell my stories, no editing and low horror music in the background, looks like my audiences "dig it" much more than when I prerecord my videos, numbers are better and people watch it longer and top moment of the video is longer than ever. Great stuff Brian. When I started out 10 years ago I was trying to be someone else. I was getting the wrong audience and more importantly the wrong clients (which is why I started on YT in the first place). The moment I started being myself (around 4 months) I started to grow. Not massive but it has been steady. The most important thing is 60% of new clients come to me because they have seen me on KZbin.... That's powerful. What makes me unique in my niche is also something that could see me rejected in my niche (maybe I'm being paranoid, maybe not). I've got so many ideas in my head I can't think straight, and when it comes to making those ideas into diys I get a brain freeze. I've toned down my humor, stopped with my stories and get right down to business. It's improved my AVD, but views haven't changed much. So pretty much still stuck in YT purgatory.

Brian, I like to script my videos. Maybe I'm not comfortable enough to talk off the cuff. And there's a lot of research involved in my videos too. But I feel like scripting speeds up the editing process. When I make a mistake I just say it over until I get it right and I cut out most of my mistakes. If it's something really minor I'll leave it in. Using bullet points and just riffing off of it would be cool, but I'm not there yet. 😂

About a week ago I was building a table/seat out of.. 6" x 6" oak beam off cuts, the top is two pieces about 2 ft long and 2 going across at either end (I made another 3 ft long for a friend) this is heavy woodworking.. I use my chainsaw to cut them up... anyway.. as I finished putting the little one together.. Bella 🐈 appeared so I picked her up and put her on the seat .. it was still on the workbench and I was still filming.. Bella flops down and lays on it... I said to her.. (something like) Do you like it.. She looked really happy.. So I said.. (unscripted, can't remember exact words) It's for you... and some other things.. I haven't watched the video yet, so I don't know if the framing etc is right.. I hope it is.. as it was a genuine authentic moment of the relationship we share. If it's not good enough for YT it will be a personal video of her and I.

Great advice. I always try to be myself and stay authentic. However, I've noticed that my sense of humor and sarcasm sometimes offend people. I'll tell you what, some comments can be really rude, and it feels very personal when people criticize those personal things you share in an attempt to be genuine and real. I think I'm just one of them people that rub others the wrong way 😅🤣😂😢.
