I’ve done long tutorial videos on KZbin, from PHP to Python to Go.. but I do stop and try the concepts and techniques. Love Aaron’s videos. Been a developer for over 15 years and now considering building a business.

I LOVED this talk. It validated a lot of thoughts I already had and also opened up some new perspectives as well. We should have business episodes more often!

I love the thought process of narrowing the scope and I totally agree that it help get things done!

Great topic at the beginning. The way more technical/how to content attracts an audience more eager to learn and actually buy courses is very interesting. 1k views is not the same for all types of content, and more importantly won't convert into revenue at the same rate always.

And it's actually very common to see influencers get huge audiences but have to resort to selling ad spots, since they have no idea how to turn that into sales.

18:10 If I'm going in to a new technology (language, framework, stack, etc), I like to follow along to (or usually just skim through) one of the longer 1-4 hour videos to see how all the primitives fit together to form a whole system / app. Once I know the basics of the technology I don't find them useful, and I reach for docs / shorter videos which dive deeper into whichever specific part I'm stuck on.

Most people are sleeping while your 7-8 hour video plays in the background. That's just the truth.
