Jamila, you’re truly a professional, speaking facts for 30 minutes straight! It’s not even a week since you uploaded your previous video, and this one is just as interesting, if not more. I love your perspective on things. People often embrace spontaneity and view it as a positive thing, but I don’t. I think being mindful of how you come across will lead to a better life simply said. Thank you very much for providing us with this valuable, high-quality content. Dear Jamila, this is a very timely video as I have recently become a mother and now have innocent eyes constantly on me. I only want to be better. I feel that my exterior has become more pleasing but it is my interior that still needs a lot of work. Your comments about public arguments and fights in front of children hit home. My own grandparents used to switch their language when they argued so that we wouldn't understand, but we still knew something was wrong and it made us sad. (But at least their arguments were always short -- I think they agreed to continue it later when we weren't around, which is demure in its own way!)

Dear Jamila thank you as always for elevating the youtube level. I really appreciate all your videos and I especially liked the last point of this video about energy because I often feel exhausted when being around others too long, being an introvert person, hence the need to control better how I use my energy. I would love a video about how to interact elegantly with household staff and how to organize tasks for them. I find nowadays it's a quite difficult relationship. Thank you.

I found the perspective of being more private a timely one for me. My mother passed away exactly 4 weeks ago today and I have felt that even though I appreciate people's interest, I want to not share everything about how I am feeling. It does resonate with me that it is more demure. I am going to watch your videos on posture and a quieter voice as well. I was in the Royal Australian Navy and so I speak very carefully and firmly but I am not sure if that is elegant. I also walk very fast and have been feeling lately that this is not demure or elegant. The mindful choice of accessories is something I already do, thanks to my Grandma who always taught me that less is more, quality over quantity. Thank you from a 52 year old Australian woman who enjoys learning something new.

Thanks Jamila, for one more wonderful und enriching video. I've being struggling to deal with a person, whos actions had and still have been harmful to me as as person and to my family as itself. This person is not a family member, but unfortunately someone who's presence I still need to endure. How can I manage to be mindful, save my energy and be selective and still be able to confront this person almost on a daily basis and keep my calm? At the moment, I'm trying to ignore it's existence, not look that person in the eye or engage in any kind of interaction with it. However I feel like I'm running away instead of being selective where I put my energy on. It's a very difficult situation for me. Maybe only I therapist will be able to help. Thank you anyway for your work, your videos are slowly helping me figure out things for myself, regardless. Have a great day and much love from Germany❤

I appreciate your style, your personality and your soft spoken feminine ways. Please do not change! I agree that body posture is important, but also so is our tone of voice and our facial expressions. American women struggle with overbearing voices and manly mannerisms. Some of it is culturally ingrained ( many of us live in loud cities and the men around us are steel workers who work in a loud factory) but some of it is due to women choosing not to pursue classy behavior. It seems here in the USA our culture has eroded to the "least common denominator" as the norm. I am older and still remember when women wore day dresses and gloved hands to go to the market. And high-end deparment stores offered us ladies cloth towels, individual soaps, makeup samples for touch-ups, hairspray and breathe mints all for whatever generous tip we might pay the attendants while we made use of the ladies restrooms. A woman must chose to adopt a feminine persona and educate herself. This is why your channel is so wonderful!

Hello Jamila, I wanted to share with you and with your community an experience that I have witnessed and that made me reflect a lot. I was invited to a birthday diner, and at the end of the diner everyone was discussing. One of the men at the table said something mean to his girlfriend "as a joke" but she felt hurt so she was sitting at the kitchen table alone crying. Her close friend, the mother of her partner and other family they all saw and heard everything and no one did or say something. Everyone simply ignored and we talk about grown up adults. All her close friends and family didn't do anything. So I was the one who approached him friendly and whispered in private "your joke hurted her, maybe you should see how she is feeling she doesn't feel quite alright" so he went over to discuss with her and everything got solved. But what made me feel sad is that I am 25 years old, they are all 40 years old and close family to the couple but everyone watched and didn't do anything. Maybe I shouldn't have interfered, but it felt so uncomfortable everyone heard the mean thing he said, watcher her crying alone in the corner and no one did or said anything. What's your opinion in this case? Thank you for all your videos and information!

Very few people are demure, much less polite or elegant, these days, especially in the "woke" culture where some people throw it your face. Of course, we see little pieces of behaviour on youtube shorts, or tiktoks, etc. and it is important not to stereotype because those who are being demure in day to day life may not be shown on those social media. Creativity and self-expression in one's style of dress and make-up may conflict with being demure. I have artistic friends with wild purple and green hair in striking styles and they would not be considered demure, but then they want to shock others and that is their right as an individual. I like being demure and elegant and am given compliments regularly. It is the way my parents raised me; therefore, it comes naturally. Thank you for this video as it will help many.

Jamila, when you talk about the overssharing, are you talking about just KZbin content creators? Or more of a public life? Because I’d have to say as a Christian I highly value authenticity/vulnerability in appropriate settings, but I think the word ‘private’ can have different meanings. Not sure I agree with you on this one… I think it depends on time and place. I so lean into people who are authentic and vulnerable! Unless you’re just talking about KZbin content, creators or people in professional life, I think you have to be careful and more private in those areas… But I think being humble and reachable is also very important in our everyday lives❤…

In my jobs I have to raise my voice to be heard bc it is so loud- it’s unnatural to me and I dislike talking loudly but I have to. I wear noise canceling headphones at the second job bc it’s too loud. But aside from that I’m very grateful to work at both part time jobs: I have 2 jobs that are very rough and loud. I practice dentistry in a prison part time and then work in a very loud warehouse loading boxes to be shipped to get a paid workout and really good heath insurance (bc here in the U.S. we don’t have universal healthcare and the first job has bad health insurance) i grew up in a strict household with deeply inculcated manners and now i feel influenced in negative ways bc many of my coworkers are not very well mannered. But I stick to my values too and try my best not to use foul language.

Consider WHY you’re striving to be demure to begin with? I’m not. Striking elegance and sophistication yes. Demure? Nah not in this lifetime, not in this world we live in. Not in Miami.
