I truly hope you don't stop making these, I just changed to an engineering major and the things you say has truly made me see things differently and has helped change my ways for the good. Nothing better then a straight forward not so nice video about nothing but truth.

Its honestly sick how colleges expect integrity and yet expect you to put up with their overpriced, debt crushing coursework that doesn't apply in the real world half of the time. Even then, if you are a young person reading this please uphold your integrity even if others around you do not. Karma will catch up to you if you do not.

I also made so many dumb mistakes getting my physics/astro degrees. I took responsibility for my learning but I also had brain dead study habits. I just tried to do everything brute force and try to learn everything in a sixteen week course. This worked for calculus and lower division physics classes but eventually it just didn’t work anymore. At least not well enough to avoid becoming more of a B and C student. I cared about learning more than my grades which is good but you need a healthy balance of both if you want to do well. I didn’t realize this at the time but thinking you can master everything in a 16 week upper division physics/math course is your ego not letting you come to terms with reality. People don’t take a humanities course and expect to have everything from your readings memorized by the end of the course. So it’s strange I had an expectation like that for myself in science courses. College courses teach physics/math at such an unnatural pace. Unless you are very intelligent, you’re going to need to go through it a second or third time, probably on your own time before you master everything. That doesn’t mean you can’t become competent in a short time, so this shouldn’t bother you. You’ll be much less miserable and stressed in your classes if you internalize this. You just need to prioritize things wisely and assume some things will fall between the cracks. You can already learn things later on your own time, so it’s not a big loss. When I saw this guy talking about practice tests and not worrying about homework’s, it finally clicked for me why I couldn’t stay an A student. It seems like such obvious advice in hindsight but it wasn’t for some reason. I thought I was just slow, which I am, but in hindsight all the top students I knew just knew how to learn better than me. I’m going to go about things very differently for my classes in graduate school. Working hard is important but working smarter is even more important.

I just wanna make games, and that requires a mountain of math (if I want to worth my dollar to someone and be considered a dev, not an artist), so this is a good channel to remind myself that I'm teaching myself in the end. Luckily, I was a music major originally so self teaching is like at least 80% of the job, so just another Monday, just different theory

Treat school like becoming a professional athlete. Only you can build your muscles. Just making sure that I’m a character in one of the games

Im a whiney baby, and I know that i am, thats why in the beginning, it felt like mockery, just piswing on the wound of a person. I know i am but i cant help but feel that way, but i do understand whats wrong with it but i keep giving myself excuses to not change which is even worse. But i guess this is just what i needed, something to slap me to wake up. And in the end, it wasnt even just us that you were talkin bout, it also you, how you were before. Thanks for sharing experience, peobably might need more of that in the future. And i dunno if this has been said, but you did great for living the past decades, if you didnt, i mightve not gotten this. Thanks for these advices, even they were blunt, you did say the truths, it had to be done to pry open the mind enclosed in a metal box.

Thank you for sharing your honesty here. Recognizing the struggle of wanting to change but feeling stuck is one of the hardest steps, and it takes courage to admit that. It’s normal to feel defensive or even hurt when confronted with blunt truths, but sometimes that tough love is exactly what’s needed to start breaking down those barriers. I’m glad you found something meaningful in my experiences, and trust me, I’ve been there too. It’s easy to get comfortable with excuses, but realizing that is the first step toward actually making a change. You’ve got what it takes to keep moving forward, even if it’s hard. Keep an open mind, be patient with yourself, and remember that growth is a journey, not an overnight transformation. Your support means the world to me! Everyone is a liar to some extent. Anyone who says they aren’t a liar is the biggest liar there is. The only difference is that some people acknowledge it and try to work on it, and others deny it and never grow. Those are the ones we call pathological liars. They can’t help but lie. They can’t even be honest about being a liar it’s so bad for them. Anytime you catch yourself in a lie, you have to acknowledge that it was the wrong thing to do and try to not do it again, but you will fail inevitably. The good news is, there are jobs for those people, it’s called politics.

How would you suggest doing practice exams in an intro to Real Analysis class? I find that Real Analysis differs a lot from professor to professor and from different colleges. Or a better phrased question would be, how could I get a better idea of questions that I am going to see on the exams?
@authorjond2 ай бұрын
From my experience, what they put on those exams is usually whatever questions are like medium difficulty from your homework. But they will often ask them from a different angle. So take questions that are like from your homework and find similar ones in the question bank from the books that approach from a different angle and then just give yourself exams a few times a week.
