I love Charles Stanley and listening to him but this is just one thing that I still cannot get any closure on. I just don’t know if I’m doing the right thing or if I am in gods well or if the desires of I have or even from God. There was a point in time where I really wanted these desires and I was living a good Christian life. Then the desires became a little bit perverted as time went on but now that I have reestablish my relationship I asked God all the time to take away my desires and to change them if they are not in as well. One of them has completely changed the other one has only changed a little bit but they still remain. I still want to be a married man and I still want to play professional sports. Things have happened in my life like finding a trainer who played at a pro level who can help me get a job and can also give me the skills that I am missing and the connections that I would need to make it. On the flipside, I am 31 and I do feel like a loser living at home. Just don’t know if it’s God‘s will for me to be a pro athlete or not but he gave me this desire for a reason right? I’ve asked him time and time again to take the desire away from me or to change it if it is not in his well and it has not changed. However other desires that I have prayed about in the same respect he has changed. So should I continue to do what I am doing? I just don’t know I don’t want to disappoint God but I feel like I would be disappointing not only myself but God as well if I quit trying to play the sport at a high-level

@LC I don’t play football I play basketball. And God blessed me with a former NBA player who is now my trainer and is trying to help me get on a team. So part of me feels like God is opening up doors and doesn’t want me to quit. However, I have serious times of doubt only because of my lack of experience at my age. But I am an amazing player and if the guy who played in the NBA literally trained me for free in spends every day training with me of my life it Hass to mean something right? Plus it’s also ironic because we end our training sessions with prayer and I usually close with prayer as well. It definitely feels ordained and divine timing on God’s behalf

So frustrated. I love Charles Stanley's teaching but his How To Know the Will of God list is far too basic for people who's dilemma simply doesn't fit this list. (He has a book on this subject, too). I've been STUCK in an agonizing situation for over 11 yrs where I literally cannot figure out God's will or what His response is. I can't move left or right. Don't know if Satan is deceiving me.

Why is he drinking? Men usually drink to stop the pain he is feeling. You need to know what is wrong with him so you will know how to pray. So ask the God who knows everything. And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. 4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? 5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.” Luke 13:1-5 NLT Many ask why God would allow diseases, disasters and tragedies -- even such a disease as the coronavirus which has infected thousands and thousands -- which cause many to die. As a sinful human being with a very limited understanding of the ways of God, I will not presume to speak on His behalf and try, as some have done, to explain God's reasonings for permitting such things to occur. I will, however, let God speak for Himself if any care to listen. Death itself is a part of the curse brought upon this world and all of us because of our sin and disobedience to God's commandments. After our first parents, Adam and Eve, sinned in the Garden of Eden, God told Adam, "In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return" (Gen. 3:19). Moses, in Psalm 90:7-10, says, "For we have been consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are terrified. You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; we finish our years like a sigh. The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." In Luke 13, Jesus was told of certain Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Jesus asked, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." Applying Jesus' words to those who have suffered or even died from disease or tragedy, were these people worse sinners than others, including us, who have, at least not yet, suffered such tragedy? Jesus said, "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." In 2 Peter 3, the Bible speaks of God's final judgment upon this earth, and we learn why it has not yet occurred. Verse 9 explains: "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." The reason God allows this sin-filled world to go on a little longer despite the evil in it, and the reason God allows us to live on a little longer in this world in spite of our sinfulness, is because He does not desire our eternal condemnation but that we repent and look to Him for mercy and forgiveness in the crucified and risen Christ Jesus. And, think about it! Tragedy and disease could also strike right here at home. We cannot claim we are any less guilty of sin. We certainly deserve God's wrath and punishment for the millions of unborn we have killed and continue to kill, for disregarding the teaching of God's Word regarding marriage and God's creation of male and female, for failing to teach our children to know the Lord God of the Bible and to trust in Him, and for all our own individual disobedience and sin against His commandments. The only reason God has not already judged and condemned us is that He "is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." Psalm 90 goes on to say, "So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (v. 12). So, perhaps -- no, most definitely -- we ought to use the remaining time God has given us in this world to consider what He has told us in the Bible, to repent of the sin and evil in our lives and to seek the forgiveness God offers and promises to us through faith in the holy life and the innocent suffering and death of His Son! O merciful God, forgive my disobedience and sin for the sake of Christ Jesus and His atoning sacrifice on the cross for the sins of all and teach me to walk in Your ways and live for You in accord with Your holy Word. Amen.

I normally don't like books on religion but I love the messages and Dr. Stanley's books. I also love the way he says "mature." It's that silent generation way of speaking I haven't heard in years since my grandparents. I'm really glad to know he's still doing sermons and videos. THE WORLD RULER TRIES TO KILL ME And then a voice of the world ruler came to the angels: “I am god and there is no other god but me.” But I laughed joyfully when I examined his conceit. But he went on to say, “Who is the human?” And the entire host of his angels who had seen Adam and his dwelling were laughing at his smallness. And thus did their thought come to be removed outside the majesty of the heavens, away from the human of truth, whose name they saw, since he is in a small dwelling place. They are foolish and senseless in their empty thought, namely, their laughter, and it was contagion for them. The whole greatness of the fatherhood of the spirit was at rest in its places. And I was with him, since I have a thought of a single emanation from the eternal ones and the unknowable ones, undefiled and immeasurable. I placed the small thought in the world, having disturbed them and frightened the whole multitude of the angels and their ruler. And I was visiting them all with fire and flame because of my thought. And everything pertaining to them was brought about because of me. And there came about a disturbance and a fight around the seraphim and cherubim, since their glory will fade, and there was confusion around Adonaios on both sides and around their dwelling, up to the world ruler and the one who said, “Let us seize him.” Others again said, “The plan will certainly not materialize.” For Adonaios knows me because of hope. And I was in the mouths of lions. And as for the plan that they devised about me to release their error and their senselessness, I did not succumb to them as they had planned. And I was not afflicted at all. Those who were there punished me, yet I did not die in reality but in appearance, in order that I not be put to shame by them because these are my kinsfolk. I removed the shame from me, and I did not become fainthearted in the face of what happened to me at their hands. I was about to succumb to fear, and I suffered merely according to their sight and thought so that no word might ever be found to speak about them. For my death, which they think happened, happened to them in their error and blindness, since they nailed their man unto their death. Their thoughts did not see me, for they were deaf and blind. But in doing these things, they condemn themselves. Yes, they saw me; they punished me. It was another, their father, who drank the gall and the vinegar; it was not I. They struck me with the reed; it was another, Simon, who bore the cross on his shoulder. It was another upon whom they placed the crown of thorns. But I was rejoicing in the height over all the wealth of the rulers and the offspring of their error, of their empty glory. And I was laughing at their ignorance.

It’s hard knowing Gods will if it was crystal clear we would all be going in the right direction.but most of us believers are heading in the wrong direction. There’s some truth Charles speaks but some things he says is what he believes not so much what the Bible says.a lot of pastors misunderstand the Bible. They also will give an account for saying what they believe rather than what God says.
