I don't even have horses, and I watch Ryan all the time. I can listen and watch his videos for hours.I used to ride years ago. While I dont have any now, Ryan is someone i can learn from and apply his principles to other life situations, not just horses! I love his patience, his voice, and his strength. Facts! I have volunteered with people who think horsemanship is all about cuddling and kissing the horse. And that we hurt their feeelings if we correct them and don't let them do what they want.

LEGIT!!!!!! I used to volunteer with people exactly like that, and they would get upset if I established boundaries with the horses. I left before I could witness any accidents in the making. So far I have yet to find people like Ryan, so I hope one day to get my own horse and train the horse on my own terms

Well actually giving an animal who is known to you as long as you know that the animal needs a connection such as a good stroke, a kind hand, when this animal is trustworthy (not a killer type creature) then I disagree. As long as you bond correctly and not kiss cuddle all the time, it's having horse sense. Then, be consistent and strong willed with horses or cows? 😂Some pets need to feel safe and happy. As well as knowing boundaries. Hard for cuddly ppl to get it. They need to know to behave with healthy responses and be treated in a positive manner. Not too aww soppy, aww look he's soo cutesy...

Yeah, whenever I hear or read a comment saying how horses are "stupid" because they're "scared of plastic bags", or "spook twice at the same wheelie bin when they're coming home or going out", I KNOW that person would be terrible with horses, because they don't understand at all how horses see, or how their brain processes things. They would be the sort of person to take everything personally, and get mad at the horse because they think the horse is deliberately being naughty

Love this guy...I actually have seen people do what Ryan is advising against, and then they wonder why their horse is ' so difficult '. Those are the kind of people that leave halters on horses in a pasture.

It's actually really good to hear someone talk about mistakes that you should actively avoid, I would love to see more of such content, sometimes this can be more helpful than everyone just telling you what to do when you're not even aware of the mistakes that lead to trouble in the relationship in the first place

Everything you said is 100% applicable to personal relationships between people too. Swap anthropomorphic with projection. Swap pushover with co-dependent, no boundaries. Fascinating! Great video. This just reminded me... My logical thought process upon seeing my adopted BLM mustang filly galloping maniacally in the pasture with a big black plastic trash bag flapping around her head, snapping and crackling in the wind: "Oh no! Trash blew in, it got stuck to her, she's panicking and is going to run into the fence and hurt herself!" Promptly followed by me racing out to the pasture to try and calm her down and get it off her. Her apparent logical thought process: "Oh no! The human is coming and wants to take my toy away!" ... Promptly followed by her running to the far end of the pasture and standing there holding her new toy... a big black plastic trash bag that blew in from who knows where... in her mouth as she stares at me wondering what I'm panicked about. She was racing around to make it flap, for fun. Conclusion: Never trust a mustang to do what you expected or react the way you thought they would. They may be smarter than you.

That loose one is not the main girth that keeps the saddle on the horse although I am not sure why its that loose either to be honest lol Ive never seen one that loose.

Thank you, it’s the rear cinch and wasn’t being used. I only tighten them when I’m roping, cutting, mountain riding.

In the event it was the main cinch though, you'd know well before galloping that it wasn't tight unless you just have truely masterful balance on that horse

When I was a small kid and wanted my first horse, my Dad who was a great horseman gave me one of the best speeches he gave me about horses: A horse is not a motorbike that you can park in the garage and just leave there for a week until you want to go for a ride. If you want that then I can get you a dirt bike. Do you want a dirt bike? I'll get you a dirt bike. If you want a horse it's work, before school, after school and at weekends. Cleaning the stall, shoveling cr@p in the paddock, long lining, round penning, keeping his feet clean and trim, cleaning the saddle and bridle. When all that work is done you can ride your horse. No questions, no arguments. Do you still want a horse or does that dirt bike sound more appealing? I still chose the horse and I soon learned he wasn't exaggerating, if anything he underplayed how much work was involved, especially on the training and learning (for me and the horse).
