How to "Beat" Dark Souls 2 with Poison "Only"

Fun information about the Butterfly set: more recent testing seems to indicate that the stacking from wearing multiple pieces caps at 2. In other words, the poison effect the set gives off does not increase if you equip three or more pieces. Testing also seems to indicate that the set IS effected by rat ring and the sanctum gauntlets. If wearing both the ring and gauntlets, you only need one piece of the set to maximize poison output, if only wearing the ring or gauntlets it's optimal to only wear one piece as the increase from the second piece is minimal. This means you can wear the awesome Berzerk-reference butterfly hat and then equip something more tanky on the rest of your character. Source: I saw a post on Reddit awhile back and decided to do more testing on my own. I'm currently doing a poison run through DS2 and spent a long, LONG time walking around Hollows with different gear equipped counting pulses and tracking the time.

Now this. This is a build I can fucking respect. I probably won’t make a poison “only” build like the one in this video, but I’ll certainly make a poison focused one, and it’ll start by using the gift of a petrified something in the beginning área to try and get the trident right in the beginning of the game(If I get something else, reset). Then I’ll just progress like normal and when I make it to McDuff, I’ll put a poison gem on that and boom. I can get to posoisoning with one-handed R2s. Also I loved that this video taught me that I can poison and toxic enemies. I was watching this for the first time while going to the rotten, and when I saw that, I immediately used it against him

been playing this game for years and never realized poison, toxic, acid etc stacks. i mean it should make sense its three different types of DOT. If you think about it, this is kinda OP. was this common to other souls Bourne games as well?

not really. acid mist in DS3 attacks only enemy equipment, but might be used as a smoke screen... like toxic/poison mist

@@ApXucBuH Just use all those good BLD options. BLD boosting ring, BLD boosting crit gloves, BLD mist, better BLD mist, proximity BLD build-up gear and more! Surely we weren't left with a pathetic flat DMG and foes way too resistant to it. Doubtless a percentage option is NG+. Definitely not just a desperate garbage remnant mostly existing for sad dps types trying to kill Vendrick through his incredible armor stacks for lack of Giant souls (done for a laugh). That and PvP kids wanting to flex when they get a proc that actually happens before their incompetent prey falls off a ledge.

Still, if that is a 'challenge accepted', by all means. Even if resorting to certain antics to bypass SoW and just rush for the finish...Well, best of luck. Perhaps you mean to work that broken status weapon business once more, then? Souls can be arbitrary about letting such things work, so I don't know if a Broken BLD Ladle (for instance) might actually work. The cooldown would be rough. Then there are the things IMMUNE to the status (I forget which of the 'mandatory' are truly unskippable while having that undesirable quality). Happy hunting.
