In this video, I show you my general strategy on how to beat Bovada Zone Poker. We talk about hand selection, pre and post flop play, and how these games differ from normal poker. Let me know if you have any questions, or want me to expand on any topics.

Weird thing is, I played exactly like this when I first deposited money, then I just lose it and completely forget how to play. I don't know why this happens to me. Can you relate? It could be because I don't have a solid understanding of how to play, so my instinctive aptitude is over ridden by a tilt.

Have you ever just sat and watched any games on Bovada? People suck out on most hands...Stuff like that guy rivering a set of jacks on your kk happens more often than not. I've noticed a lot of the time if you're ahead on the flop they hit the turn or river. I've also noticed that flopping 2 pair almost never wins for some reason. My all in EV vs expected is off so far...AK vs Ax dominated hands win almost 40% of the time over 200k hands...My exact number is like 37.57% where dominated hands win in heads up pots. The tolerances of variance for the statistics is off by multiple percents for almost every category. People flop sets more than they should, two people run into hands more often than they should, people suck out more often than they should.
@makeshotsharder6196
@makeshotsharder6196 6 жыл бұрын
Agree with that. I went so far to track some of the crap going on. I tracked 200 all in hands that involved a pocket pair. Pocket aces held up only 12/19 times preflop, losing to some hands like 7-6o and 10-3o. (Why would you CALL with either hand). Pocket 2's held up a perfect 100% considering that they are even/dog preflop. I also tracked 500 flops. There is a pair hitting the flop roughly 28% of the time (Odds are only 16.9%). Too many long odd variances even in the hands I tracked. Something wrong with their system for sure

@@bigeyedf11sh76 Read the comment dumbass. I did not play in any hand while tracking the hands. I recorded WHAT happened. Statistics dont lie. Through 500 flops, to have the number of pairs on the board after the flop is less likely than hitting the powerball twice in a week. But then again, you idiots dont have a fucking clue

What do you recommend for a proper bankroll for these stakes? I've tried your system to a T and I'm down $300. My experience so far has been building up in tiny amounts, only to lose my stack where I'm all-in with better hand and then get rivered. Most of the time I realize I win those spots but what do you recommend to counter the variance? A potential flaw that I see here is that by "betting big" as you say on the hands where he hit the flop is that you're not extracting maximum value. So you're letting your opponent off the hook with their worse hands and potential bloating the pot when they have better hands. By taking down small pots on flops, yes, you build up your stack by small amounts but I'm concerned the amount being built does not counter the potential amount you can lose on one hand due to dumb luck.

These videos were made before the huge rake increase at Ignition. That, and the games have changed quite a bit. With the rake and variance of zone, probably something like 50 buy ins. You could try regular tables and sit with around 30-40 buy ins.

How would you play KK in position when the guy before you min raises AK? I reraised him half + some and then he reraises it and I shoved. And he ended up rivering the A, but I feel like a lot of the players in 5NL zone can't throw away hands. His stack was also considerably lower than what it should've been.

Most players on zone are passive? I don't experience that at all, they are quite aggressive.
@MicroDonk
@MicroDonk 8 жыл бұрын
There's a big mix of passive calling stations and drunk maniacs. It is hard to find out who is who. You really need to try to analyze hands and how they would play. Sometimes you will call a big bet on the river and see they have air.

To me, zone poker sucks most of the fun out of poker. To truly exploit your opponents weaknesses you must find out how they play their hands from each position. Then you can decide how to counter and make creative bluffs. Zone erases all those edges. While your strategy is a good basic starting point, it is by no means an optimal strategy. I would assume an optimal strategy would be relentless 3betting and balls to the wall aggression in position on certain board textures. Check shoving some rivers has to be profitable as well. If most people are playing one way, the optimal way to play will be whichever way can exploit it. But like I said, zone is garbage and with proper training you can probably make so much more money from regular tables anyway. It's bovada, people will limp and call your isolation raise out of position and just fold flop or turn over and over again.

The JJ hand you said you were willing to stack off on the TT8 flop seems like your either in horrible shape or flipping. The QQ hand you were getting too aggro. You could have bet the flop then checked the turn. Then on the river he'll either bet and you can call or he checks where you can then bet. I'm guessing your plan was to get 3 streets of value, but that is too optimistic. Often times you'll run into the spot which happened where you have to fold and you might have the best hand. I probably shouldn't have typed any of this but I couldn't help myself. Since you've posted this video you've got 5647 views and that means there are probably 5647 people making your ability to make money harder. So I'm kind of wondering why you made this other than to boost your ego?
