How to BEAT KAZUYA in Smash Ultimate

As someone who fights Kazuya mains on a regular basis (one of my friends literally plays Kazuya and places well at tournaments), here are some tips. 1. Juggle Kaz. Kazuya is so slow in the air and yet I see absolutely NOBODY juggle him besides Riddles himself. If Kaz's so good on the ground, hit him upwards and keep him airborne for as long as you can. Kaz can only perform a fast-falling aerial or perform a command grab, all of which can be punished if you expect them. Catch his landings a ton as well. 2. Whiff punish Kaz. Like what Riddles said, whiff punishing a Kazuya is super effective. You literally don't have to approach him at all. He has to approach you since he has no fast projectiles that can KO. You can easily shield, spotdodge, or even crouch under his ranged attacks (A lot of characters can legit run under Kazuya's beam if he shoots it straight forward). A lot of Kazuya's moves are easy to punish when he misses, especially if you have disjoints or projectiles. 3. Don't. Ever. Get. Mad. I promise you, as SOON as you get angry, you lose the match. Even top players start getting DESTROYED the moment they get annoyed at a Kazuya KO. You know Kaz can kill you after 1-3 interaction(s), but you can blow him up after 1-3 interaction(s) as well. Personally, I have no problems with fighting Kazuya because I know about his weaknesses and I can effectively exploit them pretty often. I main Marth, Corrin, and Hero as well, so that helps a LOT.

I feel like Corrin is actually pretty good against Kaz, because like you say, kazuya is weak when above. And Corin's moves frequently sends him above or at least diagonally up. I main Lucina and co main Corrin, been using Corrin every game against Kaz players. It's a good thing most Kaz players are pretty bad. They try to abuse too much on the strength of kazuya blindly and always go for crazy end you on one interaction plays. Micro camping them out, sending them up and wiff punishing exactly like you say is the game.

Top level kazuya’s are hard because they already rarely make mistakes. But my advice to anyone is that you should just rush them and don’t give them time to think. I beat kazuya’s with my Roy because of this plus I just up special through their electrics when I know they’ll go for it. Learn their gameplan early and play as perfect as you can. @@free3793 Roy’s up b is invincible on startup if grounded. It’s a great option to do against kazuya players who spam electric. And it’s has a lasting hit box and pushed the kazuya in the air. And I agree landing on a platform is the most optimal but I don’t think anyone will go FD vs kazuya

Try learning ways to combo into electric from better moves, like nair, or fair, or grab, raw electrics can be very difficult to hit, and if you miss can be punished, but moves like nair or fair are much safer

Although he may be strong, Kazuya still has struggles with recovery, so if on stage neutral doesn't work, I'd go for his recovery, he only have so many options off stage.
