When it comes to getting attached to survivors i had this one guy who was worthless he wasted materials and food and meds he couldn't get a max out in cardio or wits but I kept him for 40 in game days because when I recruited him he said he had a sister in the military and she was his hero and he never thought he would ever look at someone like that again but now that he's in my community he was surrounded by heroes and that made me feel so touched I kept his worthless ass for 80 real time hours

At 21.30 in the video you (Brian) start talking about why you don't sprint because you become fatigued faster. Your character becomes tired after 38-39 minutes if he/she was fully rested when you took over and started playing as that character. It doesn't matter how much or how little you run, dodge, fight zombies in melee or kill zombies from behind in stealth, your character still becomes tired after 38-39 minutes. So it's based on a timer of how long you have been playing that character before he/she becomes tired. I have tested it myself in singleplayer mode (It was full nightmare difficulty) and have one fully rested character stand still and do nothing. Put a timer on your phone for 37 minutes. Soon after the timer rings your character will become tired. Then I did the same test with a fully rested character that had very low cardio and fighting skill. Write up the time when you changed to the new character. Then I ran around in my base to level cardio skill. Got cardio skill up to yellow so I could specialize. Then after specialization I continued to run around until I had all yellow stars in cardio. After training cardio fully I went out and fought zombies in melee. My character eventually became tired and when I looked at the time I had then been playing with that character for about 38-39 minutes. So it's based of a timer. It took the same amount of time for the fully rested characters to become tired. Didn't matter that one character did nothing, and the other character was active running around or fighting in melee all the time. I have seen Brian talk about this several times during different playthroughs of SOD 2. And Brian knows a lot about this game and is very good at State of Decay 2. I don't want to bash or be nasty or anything against Brian. I'm just stating that in this particular case Brian actually has the wrong facts. A character is fully rested when the message " X has recovered from fatigue" comes up in the upper left corner just under the ui which shows your resources. There is also a neat trick you can use to see if a character is fully rested. Say you have 6 characters. Chris, Frosty, Knight, Castle, Kang and Mira. You played as Kang and he became tired so you swapped character to Frosty. But you drive over a plague bloater with your car after about 5 minutes playing as that character. You want to change character since Frostys plague bar is about 75% full. You go back and want to switch character but you forgot which character that became tired. Should you switch back to Kang and play as him he will become tired very soon again since he has not been resting for long. What you can do is say you want to play as Mira but you don't remember if you played her recently. You can then change to Mira. And immediately when you are Mira change again to another character say Castle. Within 5-15 seconds as Castle a message that says "Mira has recovered from fatigue" should show up. If that message comes up you know Mira is fully rested. If that message doesn't show up then you know that you recently played as Mira so she needs more rest to become "fully rested". And with a "fully rested" character you then know that you can play around with that character for almost 40 minutes before he/she becomes fatigued. Anyways good and entertaining video as always Brian, keep it up!

When we were modding game files back in the day making all the different things like darkside there were specific fatigue modifiers tied to different actions like melee and sprinting and of Course the timer tied to each survivor depending on traits because there are traits that make survivors fatigue slower and faster. I have brought survivors out to fight hearts and had them fatigue in 15 mins of play time without a negative trait that’s with spamming stims and sprinting hard rushing hearts. So idk exactly I’m not saying your wrong at all I’m just going off what I remember and have seen myself this is also info from along time ago so it could be different now who knows.

​@@BrianMenardHeya! I'm a "kinda" new player. I started playing in may 2022 (before the forever community update) when Undead Labs had a free weekend on Steam so you could check out the game. I bought SOD2 since I thought it was fun. And yeah maybe the stamina system worked differently in earlier versions of the game, of that I have no idea. And i did the tests on full nightmare difficulty and not on Lethal difficulty. Maybe Undead Labs has programmed a specific stamina system just for lethal difficulty that is different from the other difficulties, even if I highly doubt that. Those fatigue modifiers you mention could also be when a character is tired/fatigued and you do actions that uses stamina. Those modifiers are then used to calculate how much of your stamina are removed from your stamina bar that you don't get back. Since your stamina bar just keeps getting lower and lower when you keep doing actions like fighting in melee, running, dodgeing when you are tired/fatigued. I guess I will have to do the same testing again but do it on Lethal difficulty instead (in singleplayer). With a community that has no "community wide" affect to fatigue (like the fifth skill coffee maker or something like that) or that no one has a hero bonus that affects fatigue. And that the characters I make the tests with have no stamina traits like indefatigable or just keeps going etc..... And see what the results are. My guess is the results will be the same. I have played a lot of coop in Lethal difficulty and me and my friends change characters at the same time. To avoid the hassle of having to go back to the base when someones character becomes tired. If you change characters at the same time in multiplayer then your characters will become tired at the same time (as long as all players changed into fully rested characters).

I can also attest to what Brian replied - when I go ham on a plague heart run, my survivor will probably only last 15 minutes vs like 30 mins when I’m just on a loot and prep sesh.

Hi, Brian Menard. If you want to make the chance higher to spawn black plague heart curveball. Here is the tips for you. This is from my own experience. It is always spawn in my forever community this curveball. I hope these helps. 1. Promote a leader (any type of leader) 2. Move to big size base (base that need 8 people to claim) 3. Build leader special facilities (the large slot) 4. Make your community bigger to 8,9 survivor (max it to 12 even better) 5. Max it your outpost to 7 (network booster mod & red talon hacker) 6. Defeat at least 60-70% plague heart on the map. Reasoning 1: I do believe black plague heart curveball is build specifically for late game or for the player that have really well develop their community. It is really the toughest plague heart in the game. Reasoning 2: The reason the black heart curveball not active in your playthrough so far. Probably because you still in the mid game and you still have mid size community. Reasoning 3: If you do do above list, the game will recognize you have big size, really well develop community. Then if you defeat at least 60-70% plague heart on the map. The game will recognize you are in late game. Make the chance higher to activate the curveball. Reasoning 4: I think the game kind of measure player threat to the plague heart. Also measure player community size. Before activate the black heart curveball. Reasoning 5: Because if this curveball activate to the wrong player it is complete torture. This is very specific curveball to specific player. Not just a random curveball that usually pop up. It is very rare.

based from experience, he may or may not need to move to a large base. i had a friend who played in nightmare who experienced 2 black hearts in one map (cascade) and was only based in mohr and mohr. On my own experience on lethal tho, i got black heart literally on day 2 (basically stiill in starter base, and havent got enough firepower to deal with any hearts yet). So it's still prob pure RNG

@@BrianMenard black heart is no joke. mine was on 4th day. i lost 2 members on lethal. and i have more than 1000hours on lethal. i've had the one with explosives weakness and when i entered on the bh's map i lost all the gas in 5 sec. almost instant. zombies was more a lot more resilient and they chase me all over the place. i hide myself behind buildings and they didnt lost aggro not even a bit. also zombies was really really tough. forget what u know about plague hearts. Black heart is no joke and without a car is almost impossible at the beggining, also with zeds too chase you everywhere and they dont lost aggro

For the material or meds curve ball you can deposit them back to back, but keep in mind you need 3 rucks each. I've started holding 3 in reserve so I don't need to scramble to find them. They can be purchased from allies or found in the field. What you can't do though is deposit them and then pull them back out of your pile. they need to be rucks that give you influence and standing in order to count towards the 3 total.

man i am playing full nightmare for the first time..and recently around 8-10th plague heart i started losing people because of ferals.. i am getting 1 feral for every phase of the plague heart and worse once i killed the plague heart 3 ferals spawned right next to me and killed me in a second...i couldnt even get up once to try running away... idk whats going on man, why so many ferals suddenly in my game :(

🤣🤣 first off State of decay is what I built my channel on but it’s not what made grew me to 130k subs. I want to grow as a creator not just stay stagnant. I have over 6000 hours of SOD content on my channel and I have done almost every single thing in this game that you can think of. So for my own sake why would I keep playing the same game over and over and over again that shit would be soooo boring and I would start hating the game and prob not play it at all after awhile and give up on it completely like Git Gud Fox did. It’s way to easy to burn out on games so yes after legit HUNDREDS of state of decay video I have got to the point now I only cover the game a little like this guide for new players and we do a new series every time a new update of note drops. That’s more than I do for any other game on my channel. Most games we play once and never play again so from that aspect I would say State Of Decay still gets special treatment. And the camera placement this episode was a mistake from a previous live stream I never changed it to the other side. Now back to SOD making me yes it was my building block to get off the ground but out of all my subs my 40k are from SOD the other 90k have come from other games. Now I said it at the start of the series this is a guide not a series an instructional guide for new players to lethal zone so why would I make it 3 to 4 hours long? Most people can barely watch a hour long video let alone 3 to 4 hours. This video was almost 2 hours long that is so long for a KZbin video. lol how is that short??? The average video is 30 to 45 mins and that’s considered long 🤣. You say you want longer videos you know what the average view duration is on the 2 hour streams? 18 mins so out of 2 hours most people watch about 18 mins so why would I make them longer lol it’s a waste of time. I make these videos on my off time which I don’t have much of I have a wife and 3 kids with my own real life issues I deal with on a day to day like everyone else. With my live stream times I barely have time to record these but even with everything going on I’m still trying and getting these to you guys when I can. If this was any other game I would not go through the hassle of doing it but I’m know they help people and people really enjoy it so I go out of my way to make it happen. So forgive me if it’s not coming out exactly at a pace you want but I’m doing what I can. Money has nothing to do with me doing SOD content it’s time and I don’t have much of it.
